Well, it seems EA approves of the 1 to 0 thing on the Addin file, so I did it and got everything to work. I'll remain offline for a few days until the actual thing fixes. Here is the link from EA Support:

http://support.ea.co...8/showhome/true

Best of luck.

>.> so this totally worked for me. I had tried to do it earlier, but I'm not exactly... computer savvy, So I didnt realize that there was acutally a 'Find' button with WordPad. Lesigh. Thanks for the awesome cut and dry with photos link!

*edit* - Yes I am able to access the game, but all my weapons and armor are missing... sad day

I changed 1's to 0's, but that only makes the DLC show up in the list as authorized. It does not put items into my inventory or allow me to load modules. I followed the instructions in an official EA support FAQ (delete addins, offers, etc), but that just made things worse - I didn't even see Awakenings or other DLCs. (I have DAO:UE.)

Logging out doesn't help either, at least in my case. However, if/when my content gets reauthorized, I will certainly log out and disable the update service to see if that prevents future de-authorizations.

I've only just started the game, and I don't want to put much time into it without the DLC - that's why I bought UE. I was thinking of trying ME and/or ME2, but I'm not so sure after this mess. Maybe I'll give Sims Medieval a go.

That trick with the addin file doesn't just eliminate gear; you can't play any DLC if you do it, and certain non-gear rewards are also lost. At least for me. Basically, it lets you continue playing the game, but only the vanilla version.

LOL that make me laugh..  it's ridiculous, i have contact the customer support yesterday, and they told me the exact same thing  word for word ....
so or its a robot we talking with in the chat support, or it's a copy paste message,

that is sad that they took the time to write a  message to calm people who contact them, but dont even take the time to advise people on the social network about the problem...  this would have save lot of time and frustration for most of us.

GG for being so unprofessionnal Bioware.

Stupid EA why would they even post that as an answer to not being able to play the DLC, if all it does it take it out. Brilliant. Now, if I wasn't using DLC armor/weapons, I wouldnt mind sooo much because i could just play the regular content untill things went back to normal, but alas, my toon and Alistair are wearing their finest.

Yes, the 1 to 0 thing doesn't work, it only lets you load games, but as micdy said, only the Vanilla (Origins/No DLC) version. So, back to where we were...

I'll just do something else and hope that there is something in the morning... once my DLC authorize I will remain logged out until I'm done with the game and every DLC.

IDK if anyone's stopped to thank you RaenImrahl but I will, your support has been far, far better than anything i've gotten from the robotized workers of Bioware/EA. Thanks for all the time you've put in this, i'm sure i'm not the only one that appreciates it :P

Thanks also to other users doing all this work. I'd be completely clueless about the XML files and all that jazz but thanks for looking into it for us clueless members of this community, lol.

So, lovely fellow DA gamers. Let us hope this is fixed as soon as possible, and once DLC is authorized I suggest you remain logged out as often as possible.

This weekend I had very little plans other than enjoy some leisure break to play my newly downloaded DA:Ultimate Edition... and here I am, venting out with you guys, like a heartbroken dumpee! <Lol>

For me its worse, I bought 800 points for some of the DLC for dragon age just yesterday. Then this all started. Then of all things it turns out its effecting my mass effect 2 as well (which I just found out has dlc from my dragon age account), so now I have 800 points but they don't exist as far as dragon age has decided because I can't connect to their server to actually BUY anything... Happy joy....

Edit: for reference, I didn't really bother reading much of the stuff on this thread... I finished reading page one and skipped to the end to see if it had been fixed yet... Sorry...

Just popping in to say thank you for this post. Answers that question, and I thought I was doing something wrong. I'll be sure to click 'log out' once it's all back up and running eventually.

Cheers, happy gaming.

Who could have ever guessed there could ever be a problem with having to log in to play a single-player game?

This aspect of Bioware games has always bothered me. I've never used unauthorized copies of any game (I like to have my own copy of things...it's an OCD thing) and not being able to load my single player game's saved game file because DLC content has become unauthorized due to server issues is just rediculous.

Yes, thanks to all of the folks trying to help. =)

None of the solutions work for me, either. 1's to 0's removes all my DLC gear (leaving me naked in the Circle Tower on nightmare, which isn't really fun). Opening the game, logging out, disabling auto log-in doesn't work, no matter how many times I close the game out and try again (while not logged in). I also tried it with the Content Updater started, stopped, and disabled, none of which worked.

I recently formatted, so when I decided to get back into DA:O I just did the installation through the EA Download Manager. I installed all of my DLC through daupdater.exe. I played the game for days with no issue until Friday, and I never had this issue in 2009/2010 when I played DA:O and Awakening previously.

I do not have the Ultimate Edition, but it's possible my problems stem from the fact that I purchased several DLC just a few days ago when I started up again. Maybe it's just the recently authorized DLC that has an issue? My Awakening is not having the authorization problem, and it was authorized when it was first released.

Either way, I think it's safe to say that the situation is too complex to write off as "ur doin it wrong," especially considering how sudden and widespread this outbreak of issues was. Hopefully EA/BW will be able to figure the issue out soon.

I'm frankly just still waiting for some official announcement of the issue and an ETA for the solution. I can't believe ANY game publisher/developer wouldn't care to address an issue that prevented their gamers to actually use their products. How counterproductive is that? - I am not one to bash a company for technical issues or problems, but I think as consumers we need to voice out the annoyance and discomfort that this causes - NOT the issue itself, but the lack of enough tact to provide us at least some acknowledgement about it.

I am upset because I love Bioware's designs and products... but not the way (whomever) is handling costumer service/technical service or issues for them.

If you have read most of the thread you'll see that the problem is not anything you have done. The issue is a problem server side that they need to address, and we're still waiting on it. So stop troubleshooting locally, you may delete something important.

This is something you'll have to just wait out.

I read the whole thread, and many others on the issue besides.  =) I'm aware that they're having server issues, but the fact remains that some people are able to bypass the problem, and someone suggested people giving more info so we can narrow down who's being affected.

Have  read a little more tonight, I suspect the XML editing, while a valid solution for some problems, is not a valid fix for the server issue.  I suspect what's actually doing it for most people is logging out of the game.

For those who already see the "DLC unauthorized" alert, you've probably got a 50-50 chance of either a swift logging out or the XML editing working.

Sadly, it looks like the only real solution for those folks is for the server to come back to life....

I'll edit the first post to reflect this.

I believe you are right. I asked EA support about the XML editing and they told me all this actually does is turn off the DLC, so that you can load games. But all the content will be missing.

I think we should all give props to RaenImrahl for the effort put in this weekend to keep folks informed about this issue.

Thanks for any help-

I just want to clarify: I installed ultimate 3 days ago, and was finally able to devote some time tonight. Long story short, spent my whole night reading about this. I can play with all DLCs working offline. Not online. The only difference I've read is online I can post caps and they can check my functioning? I just want to make sure I lose absolutely nothing (even socially) from gameplay by playing offline.

Also, if some of these threads started 8 months ago, was there ever a fix? Like, did the problem get fixed and then come back?

Sorry for the questions, but I haven't logged one minute in the game yet, and don't want to lose any experience (for me) if possible.

:)

I've taken a break from DAO for about a year, and the very week I come back and buy the ultimate edition is the same week EA decides to go apesh*t with a full blown DRM fiasco? Excellent timing. For me or them, I can't decide. Either way I am not a happy camper, and I will certainly tell everyone I know to stay far away from EA and Bioware products.

My only experience with bioware/EA/Mythic is Warhammer Online and Dragon Age. Everyone knows Warhammer is a bugged out, laggy, imbalanced crapfest, but I heard DAO was supposed to be a great game. Maybe it is, but since I can't play the game I payed for (twice!) I'll have to assume it's just another steaming pile of poo.

I blame EA. I hates them. Bioware makes fantastic games - their stories are wonderful, I really wish they had a different company backing them. Also, people are having the same issues with Mass Effect content. My guess is - and someone may have already said this - but there was some sort of sale going with Mass Effect, maybe thats whats clogging the servers?

I'm just throwing my 2 cents in here, but I think there should be some compensation for this issue.  I mean, between my wife and I, we've logged in nearly 500 trouble free hours on DA:O with bought DLC(we got them all long before Ultimate Edition), and suddenly I'm now told that those 500 hours essentially didn't happen?  Not to mention the money put into all those Bioware points... and that's the compensation I propose:  100 or 200 Bioware points for our trouble.  I know that's not really enough for much of anything, but that's kind of the point.  I don't presume to get a free DLC out of them, just have my faith restored in their ability to recognize their customers' trouble.

I'm also certainly disabling auto-login in the future; despite this being the first time my DLC has EVER gone 'unauthorized'.  I was completely unaware of the fact the servers reauthorized them each and every login... I figured it was just a nice way to get all my achievements/character progress uploaded, but this is a ridiculous way to implement a DRM!

Well, I have never had any problems with DA1 DLCs, but yeah... After a few months after finishing DA:O when I decide I have time to start DA:A most of my UE DLCs (but not some like 'The Lucky Stone') become unauthorized. And this time no combo of logging in and out will work.

Well, I guess I'll pass my chance to play DA for some more months.

Just adding my voice really to the thread really. All of my DLCs are 'unauthorized'.

I have tried everything in the three sticky threads in the Tech forum, and nothing works.

Very frustrating and I hope they flipping sort it out soon.
