I have had DA:O since the summer and my game came with redemption codes for The Stone Prisoner and Blood Dragon Armor. I am currently playing a run through of dragon age, and as of yesterday I was able to play fine. Today, when trying to load my save. It said that I do not have the DLC that is required to load that save.

I checked the DLC menu and it said under Installed Content, that The Stone Prisoner/Blood Dragon Armor DLC was unauthorized....?

Is this some change on BioWare's end, or did someone steal my keys? What can I do about this?

Many people (including me) are reporting the same problem on the DA:O PC unofficial support forum. It might be a Bioware server problem.

I have the Ultimate Edition and I'm having the same problem. Worked fine yesterday, today "unauthorized content". Not happy... :-(

Same problem here. There should be a way that we can play our games without having to log into the servers.

This makes me worry what happens when they pull the plug for DA:O all together.

-Way to go EA!

And we all know by now that "We are working on it" usually means, "Don't hold your breath, if you don't want to impersonate a Smurf".

Ditto here on the issue. Whoever had the grand idea to force people to log in to use a program that's legally installed on one's computer is an idiot.

Now it seems to be working. Hopefully they'll create an update to remove this requirement.

I am having the same issue. And it is still playing up for me :( On the Bioware site under "Your registered game content" it shows all my regiestered content. But says it is unregisted in the game.

However, I have just worked out if I log out in Dragon Age, I can load my save game.

It's a flaw in the system that, when you're logged in to the EA/Bioware servers, it constantly rechecks authorization on the DLCs. Some folks (myself included) have had luck tonight launching the game (I disabled the intro movies on the launcher's config menu to make it faster) and immediately logging out (and killing the auto-login problem). That might help.

I am using the PC version of the game, BTW. Don't know how that might apply to console users.

Trying EA support.. 12min, 14ppl left in line..
If I manage to get some intelligent answer from them, I'll get back to you. ^^

----15min later-----

Well, I did get an answer from a very supportive, but somewhat stressed person.
Probably a few ppl asking about this ^_^

They are working on it. Some mayor hardware failure, and they will have it fixed within 24h.

So I'm not the only one. It must apply to the Dragon Age server only. ME2 loads and plays fine. It makes me wonder if I want to purchase more games if the company can control whether or not I can play a game I have paid for.

I've followed the instructions of this article at the EA support site. Replacing every occurrence of RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0" in the Addins.xml file seems to do the trick and allows me to continue playing.

This file is at %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings in Windows and at ~/Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Settings in Mac OS X.

what good is the RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0" trick if you can't play it with any of the dlc. This makes my game finally load but I still can't use the dlc.

I've only tested it with a Mac. In my case, the DLC is available after the referenced trick.

In the PC that I have available, the DLC is still authorized and I can play there with normality, so I can't use it for testing.

Same with me, but I'm logged in to my profile.BIOWARE STOLE OUR DLCS!! Except I fixed mine through these instructions:

  • Close out of the game. Go to My Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings.
  • Find the Addins.xml file and open it with Word Pad, Notepad, or any XML editor.
  • Press Ctrl. A to select all, then Ctrl. C to copy.
  • Paste the copied text into a new Notepad, Word Pad, or Word document and save the file. This will be your back-up.
  • Go back to the Addins.xml file and replace all entries that read RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0".
    • NOTE: Make sure you do not make any other changes.
  • Save and close the document and try running the game.
  • If this has no effect, restore settings by pasting the contents of your backup document back into the Addins.xml, then Save and Close.
