But it is a pain in the neck, I feel everyones pain.
I suspected it was a server issue or recent technical glitch that has creeped into EA's system. RaenImrahl seems to have confirmed that.
I'm confident this is one thing they'll fix eventually as it affects DAO playability. If people can't enjoy their playthroughs on DAO, they'll quit. And with no end game save to transfer to DA2, those same people won't buy DA2. In short, this issue affects the sales of TWO games.
Money rules all and this bug will hit EA in the pocket book if they don't fix it. So they'll fix it.

So I tried the workaround, and nearly went blind trying to find all of the crap I needed to change, and still didn't work for me. I must have missed some lines. Sooo I just logged off the server in the main menu screen of the game. That seemed to work for me, the game loaded, and no unauthorized ****.

Same with me, but I'm logged in to my profile.BIOWARE STOLE OUR DLCS!! Except I fixed mine through these instructions:
- Close out of the game. Go to My Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings.
- Find the Addins.xml file and open it with Word Pad, Notepad, or any XML editor.
- Press Ctrl. A to select all, then Ctrl. C to copy.
- Paste the copied text into a new Notepad, Word Pad, or Word document and save the file. This will be your back-up.
- Go back to the Addins.xml file and replace all entries that read RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0".
- NOTE: Make sure you do not make any other changes.
- Save and close the document and try running the game.
- If this has no effect, restore settings by pasting the contents of your backup document back into the Addins.xml, then Save and Close.

And it doesn't work for everyone. You might be able to play, but not with DLCs
Not something I would recomend.

- log out
- quit the game
- disconnect your computer from the internet
- start the game again
- resume your campaign
It won't ask you to log in. DLC are available. I think this is reasonable, since many people don't have a permanent internet connection (travel laptops, for example)
No guarantee that it will work for you, but it's worth a try.
Messing with the Addins.xml worked too, (on the Mac), but again, there seems to be a difference between Digital Deluxe and Ultimate edition in how this is handled...
And I still think an official announcement on this board and the "social.bioware.com site tech support" board would be much appreciated.

Cool if that worked. =)
However, Ultimate Edition needs Internet connection. It will not run without it.
No matter what you do to xml's, ini's or what nots.. =/

DD edition says it needs internet connection too (being a Download edition), but is also playable without (and without changing Addins.xml).
Ultimate edition is a physical edition. You own the disk, and still need an internet connection?!
An example of DRM running amok...

Another minor issue here is that once DLC becomes unauthorized, achievements related to DLC disappear, and they become locked again once you fix your DLC. If they were uploaded to the server already, they become unlocked again once you log in after loading the game. But I wonder what will happen if I achieve something while playing offline and then lose it by logging in in the main menu before the server is fixed. Thankfully I already uploaded all my purchased DLC related achievements except those from The Darkspawn Chronicles, so I think I should be fine. Also I still haven't purchased The Golems of Angarrak and The Witch Hunt. And I can't do that until the server is fixed, because I don't have access to my Bioware Points while this issue continues. They'll have to fix it, or no one else will purchase any more DLC. Therefore, I think it is only a matter of time.

i just bought the game on steam, registered my cd-keys on this website and my dlcs seems to be unauthorized... is that some server side problem ?
Definitely. The whole lot of people all around the world can't have the same software/equipment problem at the same time, unless it's some virus designed to hit the specific product. But even if it is, it could be catched only from the Dragon Age server, or else it won't spread that wide and there will be many unaffected people. So it is server issue anyway. Try unchecking all your DLCs and play without them, if you're about to just start a new game.
