My Mass Effect 1 disk is all messed up, still have my serial key and box and everything, but it won't reinstall. :\\
Don't want to have to buy it twice, any suggestions? Help would be appreciated.

Just download it with steam or EA Download manager. You can use your serial key so you won't have to pay again and you won't need the disk to play.

Hm, tried to do that with Steam with bioshock, kept giving me errors. I'll have to try it again. Thanks!

Yeah, both sites say it's an invalid key. It's the same one I've had since I got it, serves me right for leaving the disk out of the case so long :x

I don't think ME1 can be re-downloaded through EA with the CD key, I think that only began with Bioware games with DAO & ME2.
The list of non-Valve games that can be added to your Steam account with the CD key is pretty short, and Bioware's aren't among them.
So, I'm afraid you may have to buy it again if the disc is messed up. :/

It's pretty cheap on Amazon now. A shame that you can't download it but i guess it won't set you back a great deal to buy a new copy.

Have you tried contacting Bioware support?
