Sooo... I was thinking about turning my 1.2 gigs of override files into haks, for troubleshooting reasons, as well as the feeling I need to tidy things up... but I remembered reading somewhere about there being a certain size limit for Hak Packs.

So, how big can a single Hak Pack be? I know I will have to separate my files, but just about how many should I make? Is there a performance hit relative to size?

Please, enlighten me.

CEP seems to max out their CEP2_CoreX files at or around 500 MB. Im not sure if its the file size or the resources amount in the file.

Well... Duh! I hadn't thought of such a simple solution: Checking my already installed haks in order to estimate an average of the max size. Indeed, if CEP has a maximum of 500 megs, it stands to reason a HAK can manage at least up to that. Thanks a lot, Dark Defiance!

16384 is probably the exact limit. Powers of 2 are your friend.

I don't belive there is a size limit, I've had haks at over 1 gig (robes for differing phenotypes) that ran just fine.

I've rarely gotten beyond 10,000 resources in a hak, but it's certianly possible with clothing and probaby tile haks.

Good info to know, I was pondering this very issue while watching the clothing hak upgrade for Mythos get way larger than I was expecting. Thanks =)

For clothing what I did was split into male, female and robe haks, I found that to be easiest if you have to change a given piece, it is easier to track as well.
