I'm also experiencing the issue with not being able to talk with Shale. Quite frustrating, hopefully we get a fix very soon!

The old saves from my previous character works fine also.

To state my idea of whats wrong. Dragon Age looses connection to validity servers during gameplay -> DLC  becomes bugged/disabled -> you save with no knowledge that anythings amiss ->your savegame goes awry, Shale breaks and Wardens Keep disapears from the map -> all subsequent savegames are broken.

I have tried redownloading DLC. I have tried forceloading with no DLC and reloading etc etc.

I have been staring at my broken savegames for a long while using the toolset to see what it could be, the main problem is I cannot compare to my working saves because they are too large for the toolset to handle.

Is there any known fix for even getting to see any part of the stone prisoner ? no matter what i do i cannot figer out how to get the quest to work so i can see it on the map , only get the rod then it says end of quest... that is all it gives.

Every ones talking about it breaking in mid game,  but  does anyone else have the issue about not even getting the marker on the map to start it  once you get the rod ?

I can't talk with Shale anymore all of a sudden, Warden's Keep is gone and Morrigan's staff disappeared. Unfortunately I didn't notice this immeadiately so my saves are all post-bug.

I'm currently in the Deep Roads with all other objectives of "The Blight" questchain completed.

Won't be purchasing Wardens Keep or the newly announced DLC until the DLC I have actually works. It's a great game, and it can only be better if it worked properly. Here's to hoping they come up with a fix that doesn't involve me starting the hell over after 50 hours of gameplay.

I lost my Starkiller and the odd thing is I have save games when I still had it on that will load with it off, been troubleshooting this and the more I get into it the more weapons/armor disappearing

Just found the same problem. I was playing before dinner, just got into the fade part of the mages tower questline and on reloading my save I now have no weapon - starkiller is gone... loaded an older save and it is gone from there too. I can only assume shale and the whole of wardens keep is gone as well. What a stupid issue.



I hope you get this fixed as I'm pretty sure I can't fistfight my way through the fade... sheesh...

I was putting off doing Warden's Keep. I tried to go do it last night and Levi is no longer in the camp. Also, when I try to talk to Shale, I get the prompt to activate him and then the game goes off into lala land.

I really hope we get a fix for this.

Thats just awesome. Im 47 hours into this game.

Most anticipated RPG of the year. I have waited since E3 to play this. I quit my WoW account for this game. And it breaks.

I dont want "What are your specs?" popped up in a thread so I'm gonna tell you how to fix this.



I had this annoying problem where Shale wigged the crap out. It was just like when I first did his quest everytime I talked to him!

1. Wake the golem "Nonsense words"

2.Do nothing.

But it was a little different.

Something was amiss! I ended up about a mile "clipped" into the ground!

So I restarted from my last save.

Same thing.

After three days of looking on the forums I got fed up. I copied my save folder named "Bioware" in the My Documents folder (I use Win7 from M$.) onto a flash drive.

Uninstalled everything Dragon age related from my pc. Ran CCleaner to get rid of the traces of the software on my system.

Reinstalled my copy of DR:O.

Deleted the NEW Bioware folder from when I reinstalled the game.

Replaced that folder with my copy of the folder on my flash drive.

Bam it works.

Use at your own risk. If you mess it up you only have yourself to blame.

Add me to the list of people with bugged bonus content. Talking to Shale teleports me outside the world boundaries. Warden's Keep, which I so wisely spent $7 for, disappeared off the world map before I got around to doing it. Not to mention, the blood dragon armor set doesn't convey the set armor bonus like its description says it should. You'd think forcing the player to whip out a credit card mid-game to access bonus content should be enough incentive to make sure the feature works. But apparently, I'm wrong.

Yes it does seem rather peculiar that it will work. It could be some malignant file not in the 'save' dir that points at some saves for 'whatever' reasons, screwing them up.
I seriously doubt that though, if they would just fix the damn toolset allready I might have a chance of fixing it myself as I am no slouch with such things, but I cannot load my old savegames as they will take up too much RAM, so I have no 'working' save to compare with the 'broken' ones.

And please sticky this thread or a thread similar as it seems to be a very common bug!

I tried uninstalling and re-installing from scratch without installing the patch. Still no go. No soldier's peak and Shale is borked.

I can load an old save file and Soldier's Peak is there. It does seem like a corrupted save file.

ever since i put the patch in i noticed that many places the graphics start to go all weird and neon then all the items implode into triangles across the screen, didn't happen before the patch though since the patch the loading screens been a lot faster and not taking over 5 minutes per load. is there some way to fix the graphics glitch ?

Im still waiting to hear from some of you folk trying out formating everything but I'm guessing depending on how the saved games work they may be beyond repair depending on the game story evolution. A fix will probably prevent it from happening again but as far as de-corrupting the saved games I have...doubts. Would be interesting to get some feedback from more knowledgeable folk on this.



Explanation:

Well in my case the only thing diferent between my last good save and all the corrupted ones are none (from the Shale's point of view). I cleared the dead trenches and came almost to Carradin. Didn't talk to anyone or did anything much. Therefore it should be a simple matter of copying all character variables (not the skill ones, event thou I wouldnt mind losing a lvl or so) of past shale to present shale.



Now if I had spoken to carradin and took the sketch from the golem directory I would probably be unable to fix it in such a copy paste manner due to character's story evolution. I myself have become unable to edit the saved games, due to RAM constrains on the toolset
