Well I was gonna put forth the idea of a young character that grew up in this time of massive heroics and change coursing throughout Thedas. The idea is that this character would one way or another show the downside of every previous protagonists actions for the general populace. I imagine they'd have grown cynical by the continued destabilization of socio-political climate of shifting the world.  And the more I write this the more I realize I'm just describing my own post 9/11 youth.

But I am a pretty big fan of Athenril, who knows what kind of dark emotional scarring lies behind that smooth matter-of-fact voice.

I would kinda like a dwarven Shale. to see her squash pigeons as her awesome warrior self... be totally cool if she still managed to keep some of her incredible golem abilities.
ANd of course I have a softspot for AListair, Zevran and Fenris. Would totally love to see them come back in some meaningful way. why not dlc to assist Zev killing the crows or something?
And Nate , o ya, lots to explore there... Cullen well, I think he is awesome..

Could I choose a companion for DA 3, I would say Cullen.

Alistair would be another option. But after meeting him in DA 2, the desire to get him back has decreased.

I would love to have a dog again.

All in all I want a companion that shares his/her backstory with me. I'd like to listen to anecdotes such as Morrigan's story about the golden mirror which she stole. Also, my companion should have a backbone and not agree with the things I do, if I do stuff that is against his/her nature, like Wynne leaving the party if you smudge the ashes of Andraste.

I really liked Sten in Dragon Age: Origins. He was no-bull**** and called people out for assigning me "chore" quests. Plus he bribed the guard at the mage tower with cookies for me. Really, what's not to like.

I'd love to see Sigrun come back and to get Cullen as a companion for the next one. I can't imagine an LI from one game coming into the next as a companion and NOT romance-able but that would totally break the "love" part of the LI story.

As a "mister good" companion Feynriel would be a pretty badass mage to have around.

As a more evil sort of mage, grownup Connor. The whole point of course being a duel between the two at some point !

EDIT : Oh and I hate Cullen. He's got the personality of a villain just without the sense of style, there's nothing redeeming there.

Ohh, Morrigan knows about the dangers of demons and would think Merril an absolute idiot.

On topic, I don't mind who we have. I don't want to two time in Bioware games because all the romances have severe mental problems, and it would hurt the other party a lot if you were to two time lol.

I don't think she thinks the Warden is an idiot :/. 
But I like taking Morri into the Fade with me, and she really does know the dangers of deals with demons.
