You all do realize that Varric is actually Hawke right?
The truth is:
Bianca is not a crossbow but Varric/Hawke's (Var-awke) lover (That is why Var-awke is NOT carrying it while being interrogated) and Meredith is his lover too.
Meredith hated mages and wanted to kill them all because Var-awke tried to run away with Bianca. Meredit is MAD not mad and there is no lyrium idol - tis actually a gift from Var-awke.
The Chantry is actually where all the phylactery are being stored and Var-awke blew the Chantry up to cover his tracks - and he blame Anders for it. We all know Anders is not gay from Awakening - so he is lying!
Kirkwall is totally destroyed in the end and Var-awke is spreading tall tales about this "Champion" to Thades so that nobody will ever find out about the truth.

So Kirkwall doesnt get destroyed in the end? Hawk doesn't destroy the Chantry?
A mention of a character from DA2, an organization in DA, and a city in DA2 is not part of the game?
All that has nothing to do with DA2, riiight.....

It's all stuff you know before you even before you start the game. It's like saying Hawke dissapears is a "spoiler".

D&D require live friends and dungeon master. cRPG was born to help easing routine task done by D&D. With cRPG it's possible to role play without friends. Hence, we why get single player RPG. BioWare and Bethesda are aware of cRPG limit for true D&D experience. So they come out with toolset. Bethesda make TES construction kit. While Bioware make Aurora Toolset and provide Co-op for NW players. For years, both BioWare and Bethesda had been supportive with the idea of create-your-own-adventure feature in single player RPG. Not until JRPG began tainting RPG market with their predefined characters and utterly linear storyline.Gyrannon wrote...

If you're that sick of games with limits, then why don't you go play D&D? Choices in D&D are endless, you'll love it. Its either that or go make your own game.
Just give me back Co-op, user friendly toolset and support for mods, and I'm sure many players will glorify DA 2 even if the story sucks. We already did that with Neverwinter Nights.

I am actually starting to enjoy JRPG's more.
They provide a good linear experience without constant breaks during conversations. This dialogue wheel mechanic serves no purpose at this point, because the choice is essentially meaningless in Dragon Age 2.
Eventhough Final Fantasy IX had problems (I bought it from PSN some time ago), I think it was a better game than Dragon Age 2. The biggest problem I have with JRPG's are the long animations after winning a fight or during spell casting. As a result I usually just use melee weapons to kill all the enemies.
But I honestly feel that Japanese developers have more imagination at this point. They are better when it comes to surrealism. Every world looks different, there are extravagant creatures and what-not.
WRPG worlds are usually based on German folklore which I really like, being a European, but this "flash'n'awesome thingz!!!" nonsense is really starting to degrade the whole experience. I cant connect with the game when the enemies (Meredith acting like a anime villain) do not fit the setting.
I used to be the kind of gamer who always preferred WRPG's over JRPG's, can't believe I feel like this now.

Judging from the amount of feedback Bioware has misinterpreted, this comment means that DA3 will be an MMO.

Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. After FFX (and a few false starts) I was hooked.
People bang on about how DA2's plot is original, those people should play Hyper Dimension Neptunia.
If you want something JRPG but with choices and consequences. I'd recomend Atelier Rorona and Mana Khemia.
There is a whole JRPG world out there besides Final Fantasy, although you can't beat FF for the "shiny".

You, sir, are a foolish, ignorant, little man. To be so blind that you openly disregard and dismiss gaming history. Final Fantasy was the main franchise that popularized RPGs as a genre, as a franchise it has made countless innovations, and sold more copies than any other RPG franchise. Not to mention that Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest through Final Fantasy 10 are masterpieces, and while the latest FF titles have seen diminishing quality and success, that doesn't invalidate the entire franchise or SquareEnix's success.
To argue otherwise would prove your ignorance and validate my claim that you are just a troll looking for a fight.

Seriously people here need to calm down. DA2 and FF are just games like football. Don't take them seriously. When it comes to RPGs, it's always a person's opinion about what an RPG is.

You hit the nail on the head, it was definitely near the end with Anders that the story went real awry for me, highly contrived, especially as you had the choice to refuse to help Anders yet that choice makes little difference in the end, non of it is the consequence of Hawkes choices, I said it before, Hawke was just a bystander in this game.neppakyo wrote...
The games not about hawke at all really. Its more to do with Varric and Anders.

Little OT: Just checked PSN and there is FF IX (for PS3 - guess its some kind of port from PS) ... anyone can recommend it?
It's pretty fun, I liked it over VIII at least, and to some that may be blasphemous words, but if you want to know how I feel about it, spoonyexperiment.com has an entire video series devoted to the WTF that is FF VIII, and I heartily agree with it all

Edit: I thought FF8 wasn't as bad as spoony made it look like, as well as FF10.
FF8 was fun but had it flaws. The things spoony pointed out weren't that big of a deal to me, there were other things that sucked, but he didn't even find out what the real flaws were.
He was right though with the unlikeable "main" character in FF10, still it was a really fun game and I enjoyed blitzball ; )

It will look and play as it was on the PSOne, therefore its only a port, but honestly don't let the graphics be the judge of your enjoyment, i'd say you should play it, it's the last decent final fantasy of its time, some will say X and declare my words blashphemy again...but I couldn't stand the characters or the story.

QFT.
It is foolish to blame religion for all the evil in the world. People never needed religion to hate, they can do that just fine without it. It can be because of politic, gender, sexuality, race and even sport. Generaly speaking, many people is just not very good at accepting others opinion.
