I won't spoil the plot(s) of the ending for anyone who hasn't gotten there yet, but in terms of quality it was one of the worst I've seen in a long, long time.

Now keep in mind that I feel I enjoyed the game overall, and I feel I got my money's worth generally speaking. Even if I feel it isn't quite the same gem DA:O was and I agree with some of the flaws many others have pointed out, I had a lot of fun with it and think at least some of the outrage I've read here and there is a little overblown.

But the ending...wow. Right now I'm just hoping it's serving as a set up to DA3, which would make it semi-tolerable, maybe. But my worry is it was crafted in such a manner to get us to purchase DLC. If that's the case, if the plot only resumes and goes to an actual conclusion with DLC, rest assured I won't be making such a purchase and will have serious reservations about getting any Bioware games in the future. When we pay this much for a game, I think it ought to be complete.

The final parts of DA:O, with the several significant choices you get to make and the wrap-up at the end showing how all the choices along the way influenced the game world was, in my opinion, one of the best RPG finishes in many years. It provided resolution and satisfaction yet still allowed for DLC to follow. How the same company could then end DA2 the way it did simply blows my mind.

Oh well. Fingers crossed for the next games, I suppose.
