I have tried this method and while it did allow me to load my saved game, my DLC content wasn't showing up at all. Shale was gone along with a lot of equipment.

Recently I had to reformatt my hardrive, and therfore was forced to reinstall my DAO Utimate edition. I tried the above work around, and while it did look like I had the addons back, and it did allow me to load my saves, all the items I had from Return to Ostagar etc. have now vanished, and the quests/areas are no longer available.
