I'd rather they improve it NOW.
I really wish BioWare would release a Free Enhanced Edition to 'fix' their core game BEFORE any more DLCs.

Doubtful, the DLCs are planned and the fan base is mixed, BW doesn't have anything to prove (unlike CDProjeckt which was releasing a new game, nor like Elemental: War of Magic which was filled with bugs).  Despite some disappointment, it's not a universal case.  People like myself enjoyed the game very much.

Hehe. I guess it was good fortune that the local store never stocked Elemental, I suppose...(I was actually excited about it, since it's supposed to be a new 'Master of Magic')

Still, a precedent was made by another company...heck, IMHO, they could've just patched it and released the EE then as a paid for DLC even if CDPR, at the time, 'had something to prove': the core game was solid and I finished and enjoyed The Witcher w/ just the initial patches (which I think fixed the loading times issue, which, if memory serves, was the only issue I had with it). The EE, and the bonuses that came with it, was just icing on the cake.

DA2, on the other hand, I would say needs to have it's core game 'fixed'. So an EE for DA2 wouldn't just be about fixing bugs/glitches and optimizing the game, it'd have to tackle some of the more disappointing elements (recycled environments, messy narrative, character development, atmosphere/immersion, etc.)

So as much as I, too, feel that an Enhanced Edition for DA2 would be unlikely (come on, I've been playing PC games long enough to know about EA), I would still hope/wish/ask for it. It's the least (or the best?) I could do.

DA2 is one long deep road.

This sums it up. The whole game basically felt like one giant filler.

I was waiting... and waiting... and waiting... and then it was over.

At least Dragon Age: Origins had content actually worth playing through.

Sadly, yeah...I can see why Melca's point could be funny. (kinda like asking for 'World Peace', I suppose...)
Still...one can hope/dream/wish.

On the other hand, one of my favourite gun manufacturer's motto is: "No Compromise!" :o

Yeah, I think I felt that, too: waiting/wanting for it to get better...until the very end.
I mean, sure, some of it was enjoyable and there were some memorable points/characters, but...*sigh*Disappointing. :(

Sad, but true.

But hey, nothing like controversy to keep a piece of entertainment popular. If people would simply move on to other games or go back to Origins, now THAT would be a definite sign.

Hehehe, yeah.
I'm only here because I want to see what BioWare's next step is. I haven't touched DA2 in around 2 weeks, now (probably spent more time playing their facebook game or being on these forums)...and have since installed/reinstalled other games (The Witcher, Mechwarrior 4:Mercs, I'm probably going to reinstall an FPS shortly...)

A long dungeon run or 10 MMO quality quests on repeated maps are equally yawn worthy for me.

God no. I liked them the first time, but I hated them on subsequent plays.

The developers should have NEVER pandered to the group. Its that simple.

Ah, I see. So that group's opinion doesn't matter at all then... <_<

And for the record, I wasn't even a part of that group as I did enjoy both the DR and the Fade in Origins.

After wading through a sea of darkspawn blood, which was REALLY hard to get out of my mage robes, I decided that no, I didn't enjoy the Deep Roads at all. Especially when my companions and I ran out of provisions and were reduced to catching nugs for sustenance. Towards the end, I actually started having visions of Oghren as a baked ham (and I detest ham, which goes to show how desperate the situation was).

Grinding is an apt description of DA2 due to the repetitive gameplay, loss of choices, and recycled enviorments.

One thing I like about DA2 as I get partway through my second run is the "bite-size" nature of the content. I would never sit down to play DA:O unless I had 4 or more hours to burn because, for my playstyle at least, it would just be a waste of time and I'd have to quit in the middle of something.

Say what you want about the recycled levels and repetitive objectives (and I am not defending those) but I like that I can sit down and play it for 30 minutes or an hour and feel like I've accomplished something and moved the world/story forward.

Consquently, though, when I do sit down for a long, "epic" session, I do find myself getting a bit bored since it's all on the same maps and there's not much variety. So, it definitely rewards shorter bursts of play, in my opinion. A plus and a minus, to be sure.

I can understand their point but I still believed they pandered to that side far too much. There should be a fair balance, a reasonable compromise.

I resent having my games simplified and dumbed down just for the ones who are lazy.

I honestly don't miss the grinding involved in Dragon Age: Origins, or the many dragging sequences the game had.

Nor do I like the constant insistence that "faster"="Dumbed down" because you don't like it.

I never considered any of DA:O to be a grind. For me, though, 'grind' equals 'mindless killing of massive numbers of mobs', so if I were to bring up grinding with regards to Dragon Age, DA2 fits the bill with its repetitive, excess waves.

I liked the deep roads of DA:O. I enjoyed feeling like I was cut off from the rest of civilization and felt like I was deep within hostile territory. Personally, that was my favorite place in the whole game. The spider part was a bit annoying, but it added to the flavor :).

I find it a bit odd that RPG gamers no longer like long dungeons. Kids these days would never make it through TES:Arena or Daggerfall :P. The average Arena dungeon could take 1-3 hours to get through, depending on how lucky you were in finding the staircase to the next level in the dungeon...

Anyone else feel like modern RPGs are all made for people who don't like RPGs?  I wonder how the FPS players would feel if we added hours of dialogue to their precious shooting adventure?

I think it's funny you say  "big dungeons" are part of an RPG, and then say you wonder how FPS players would feel if we added hours of dialogue to their precious shooting adventure.

When I think of an RPG I think of the hours of dialogue, not of a long dungeon per sé. Ofcourse, when done well, a long dungeon can be fun, but in my opinion, DA:O had zero "fun" dungeons. When I played it the first time it was bearable. It was new and all. The second time it was boring as hell. Not only was it not new, but there was hardly any dialogue. Really, there is almost no dialogue, except for, in the case of the deep roads, Oghren, or in the case
of the Fade, 3 of your companions... after spending multiple hours of basically brainless fighting and backtracking to get through the puzzle.

What would make a hugely long dungeon fun for me is that people would have dialogue with you somewhere along there. And not just one character.

We go through multiple areas in the deep roads, and nobody of your companions is actually in awe of for example Bownammar? Why can't Alistair for example comment on the deep roads? He might never have been there but he certainly must have heard stories.

I'm not talking about people that comment on you talking to Caradin for example. We're going really deep into enemy territory, that's great. People should just randomly talk to you.

And the Fade just made me feel miserable. I am basically without my "friends" there. It's great that a game makes you care about the NPC's in it so, but that zone was just utterly horrendous. I was relieved when I got out of that place, and when I talked about how horrendous it was to a friend later, he pointed me towards the mod which I gladly installed.

Shame there is not one for the deep roads, or atleast, I have not been able to find it yet.

Now I keep hearing people saying DA2 is a grind, but atleast it's a grind with story, unlike the Deep Roads / The Fade / Bercilian Forest / Sacred Ashes dungeon. You have your companions with you who each have their own agendas. They often comment about your choices. And it's funny how people comment about the absence of choices (which is not related at all to the subject of the topic, but there you go), but to me, the choices were a lot harder, as they are a lot more personal.

They weren't grinds to me in DAO. I loved the Deep Roads (and hated them too) for their environment. I really did feel isolated, and creeped out (why hated them too, it was as if I was really there, so hated in a good way). My character despises them, as well she should. The Deep Roads in DA2 felt cartoony and strange. Also waaaay too short. I didn't need it to be as long as the DR in DAO, but a happy medium in between would have been great. I kept expecting that to take longer in DA2, and I went through in say 20 minutes (and no upping to Nightmare will only make it longer with tedium of excessive waves). And please knock it off with the bright Anime/manga coloring. DR are supposed to be scary, creepy and gross, not the It's a Small Dark World ride at Disneyland. I kept expecting the Darkspawn to break out into song.

The Fade in DAO I liked too, though I hated the mage section. I did love changing shapes (kept wanting to do it after I got out of the place). And I preferred it look more like Mr. Gaider's writings. The mage section sort of did this. DA2 I thought fit better with the books, but it didn't say weird dream place to me so much as, "here is the templar stronghold with a watery filter over it." There needed to be more weird to it, a green sky with the Black City floating in it. But all in all, liked it better in DA2. Again, too short! Another where they could have done a happy medium between DAO and DA2.

You know, reading this, it almost seems as if they just wanted to forget DAO ever existed. Instead of fixing what was broken, keeping what worked, and tweaking the things in DAO, they just tossed it all in the trash. Maybe DA2 should have been DA: Reboot.

ROFL!!!! I loved this! And I too ate ham.  I was too nervous to buy food from that little crazy dwarf, you didn't know where the meat came from.

I do wish they had had a camp in DR for your companions.

No. One of the things that put me of DA:O was the Deep Roads and the Fade. The Fade had a good MOD to it, but not the Deep Roads. Actually. I wasn't fond of many dungeon crawls either.
