I am unable to play the game at all. I keep getting this every time I try to start the game:
"General protection fault!
History: GMatrix2D::Swap() Address = 0x11299b64 (filaname not found)
Address = 0x1b165 (filename not found)
Address = 0x1092662a (filename not found)
Address = 0x9ffce900 (filename not found)"
From what I have seen after doing some searching around internet, this seems to be mostly related to NVIDIA drivers - well, what can be done about this? The game is up to date and so are my drivers.

If you do think it's drivers, you can try rolling back to older versions.
I'm not certain what it would be myself, but drivers are always a decent guess when there's nothing obvious.

You can try a new set of drivers. Make sure you uninstall the old ones first, don't just do a roll back. Make sure you are not overheating. Do you have SP 3 installed for XP?

There can't be anything wrong with my current drivers. I reinstalled my PC pretty much from the scratch just days before I started playing Mass Effect. The drivers are up to date, and there's nothing newer than I can get. From what I have heard Mass Effect has conflicts that are unresolved with some Nvidia drivers: at least doing a Google search with "General protection fault" provides a plenty of hits that refer to such.

When you name the exact Geforce driver being used and its date, THEN perhaps we may agree in that regard. Until then, we have to presume you have nothing any newer than what Microsoft's so very tardy updates can offer.Nikolaus wrote...

Unsurprisingly, I still unable to play the game.
Yes, probably I need to revert to older version (not that it's my fault), but I am going to hate myself for doing this if something goes wrong. Twice reverting to older drivers caused unstability with my system, and that required alot of tweaking. Now, I have no idea what version I should revert to, so I'm open for advice.
