In the DA 2 trailer and in the little demo part befor the game starts proper Hawke in mage class use's a spell to rip a target in half. Does anyone know if you can get it in game?

Isn't the effect at the conclusion of Varric's exaggerated account more of a squeezing/crushing effect? I think some speculate that it may be an "enhanced" finishing variation of Crushing Prison, though there is otherwise no direct spell correspondence in the game that I'm aware of.

I'm a stupid dwarf though so I could be wrong.

Heh, this is I think the most frequently asked question around here, we should have a sticky with big neon letters for that question alone.

I believe the question was answered many times before in the numerous posts about it, but it is hard to pull out of the dark damp place that is my bearish brain at the moment.

It is produceable when finishing a foe with Crushing Prison, maybe only when combined with a Stagger- I forget. I think that someone said that it will show on any enemy but it will be small and hard to see if he's not a very big one like an ogre.
