I find it even more fun than the Claymore as a shotgun and I get to have the Eviscerator as a back up and I get to snipe with it and and and...but the Mattock is definitely my favourite 'Shotgun' for the Vanguard...

Anyone else feel this way?

Tried it, worked brilliantly. But it felt very wrong somehow, and I went back to the Claymore.

I'm somehow not too happy about using the Mattock. Feels like cheating a bit, but I know it's a legitimate weapon.

I love the Claymore too...2nd best but I find the Mattock+Eviscerator combo unstoppable and more fun...also gives you necessary ranged versatility...

Nah, Mattock means you have to click like crazy. Claymore is simply much more fun. And more risky, which makes it even more fun for me. I don't care about ranged combat, very few enemies can't be Charged, and Locust is more than good enough for those.

Mattock always means crazy clicking. But it doesn't require you to use the reload trick on the other hand.

I tried both on the Collector ship. I couldn't really say I did better with one combination than the other. Perhaps slightly better with the Mattock in parts of it, but then it seemed easier to run out of ammo with it.

That is actually a disadvantage as far as I am concerned.

I think that the best Mattock Vanguard is the Soldier. Charging down a corridor while dropping three enemies in one Adrenaline Rush is just too much fun.

The Vanguard's pace of action is somewhat limiting if you play like that- you rely mostly on single charge-kill steps while a Soldier can shoot on the move, run faster and slow down time to make even old granny able to line a perfect head shot.

That shouldn't stop you though, just make it more interesting.

 Who gave you the idea Vanguards can't kill on the move with the Mattock?

Let me prove you wrong.

That's not what I meant by "on the move". Adrenaline Rush allows you to move at normal speed while everything around you is slowed down, meaning that enemies are much easier to aim at; this allows the Soldier to use a weapon in a way no one else can. I can't imagine how anyone can move at one direction while lining headshots the same way without slowing time.

While what you showed is impressive it can be done with any class that has Incendiary Ammo and a way to restore shields or at least stay alive.
I'm not saying it's inferior that's not my point at all, only that no one can shoot accurately on the move like a Soldier.

It is worth mentioning that one evolution of Charge comes with a short time dilation effect as well. But no it doesn't synergize as well with Charge as with AR. I think it feels cheesy in both cases though.
