Like Syrae said. Yesterday I encountered the problem with my DLC suddently not being authorized anymore. I applied the " Replace all RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0" - fix. This enabled me to play with my DLC again, however, I was unable to see my remaining 640 bioware points from the DLC menu. I found a thread on the issue in these forums, and the soution was online chatting with EA. I chatted with support, where no solutions they proposed seemed to work. I was then told to uninstall DAO completely and reinstall. I did, and now I am stuck with being unable to see any available DLC at all.

Then I found this thread on the servers being down. I wonder why this information was not availabele to the support staff yesterday, when chatting with EA. It could have saved me a lot of time if the support staff had just told me to wait it out in stead of reinstallling the game.

So thank you a lot, you helpful players, who communicate such vital information on these forums :-).

Friend of mine did the same thing and it worked.

Just wondering besides the initial authentication and the achievements and profile updates when the servers actually work. Is there any other reason to actually play online?

Cuz the feeling i'm getting is that when I finally do get this game properly started (i'm a new user) I think it'll be better for me to just remain offline!

In my opinion, no.  There's only one other thing... logging in allows Bioware/EA to monitor the game's performance and user habits.  But since the developers have long since said they're done patching and developing DLC for DAO... why bother?

More trouble than it's worth on the best of days.  More so this weekend.

Too true. Guess once this BS gets dealt with i'll be logging out for quite a while.

Wonder what monitoring users habits the last few days have told them?

i dont think the question is wether or not it helps them im wondering if they care at all seeing as its an old game, i bought DAO II but im to afraid of loosing my content, also a simple server monitor will also work on the website!

DOA is an awesome game the support SUCKS you pay money they say thankyou and then they just dont care, ever heard of customer service??? sigh

Ok, so now I finally look at the threads after spending much of the past day doing all the potential fixes that EA lists, up to and including a complete uninstall and reinstall of all my dao content and still have the same glitch. After a lengthy gripe session at an online tech, I got a $20 credit to buy back (some) of the DLC content that is "unauthorized" and I find out that the server is down and can't redeem my code anyway. Whee!
I need to think fast of an excuse not to go fold the laundry.

Gawdlessa- You're somewhat in luck. You shouldn't need to re-buy your DLC once the server goes back up, so you can use the credit to buy something new.

Wish i'd seen this sooner :(

I just completed DA:O campaign and purchased the With Hunt DLC pack. Downloaded and installed using the .dazip. Couldn't get it to authorize... So i went ahead and uninstalled my copy of Dragon Age to attempt a fresh install. Now i'm getting an error saying that the install fails due to a missing data file / removed disc.

I had this with my copy of F.E.A.R as well so i guess it's something to do with EA. Well that was a waste of £5 :|

Seeing a fair number of new posts concerning this (quickly old and tiring) issue. Thus, bumping.

Wow, I wish I had've found this thread sooner. Bought DA:O Ultimate on saturday, DLC busted. 3 reinstalls and countless troubleshooting attempts later, only to find that it's EA's servers that are borked, not my install.

Nice one EA. People with pirated copies are playing away happily and we're stuck here with nothing because of crappy DRM.

I found out I could get my DLC once I log off. I'm not sure if I can still get achievements and stuff if I do though. But once you log off, load your game and log back on, things work fine...all except one.
I have Levi Dryden back in my camp, something to do with Soldier's Peak again. But I already completed that once. I'm not sure if it is another part or not, I can't play it. The game tells me I have to download the content...but it's already INSTALLED and enabled!!!

A server issue... can't believe it. Spent  the entire weekend trying to solve the issue but didn't find this forum till now. I even set  up my OS anew but had planned on doing so anyway.

Thanks a million for these REAL HELPFUL hints ! So I didn't delete anything accidentally ;-)^_^

I had the same problem, this fix worked for me:

guys i have the solution and it works 10000000% promise so this is what you have to do<br />
<br />
Locate AddIns.xml in "C:/Users/(Username)/Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings" and edit it using WordPad or any XML editor. Replace all RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0".<br />
<br />
Run the game and check to see if everything worked!<br />
<br />
<br />
if it worked say it here so that the others can see that it worked

This worked for me as well, with no hitches.  I would suggest to anyone using this solution to simply remain logged off.

The problem is that I had to reinstall everything. I was in the middle of grabbing all of the DLCs for myself when this happened so I only have a couple downloaded and I cannot access the others (example: Cant access my deluxe digital items, dragon armor, etc) so until they fix the problem the game is quite unplayable for myself at this time which sucks. I wanted to go and hit warden's keep before I went off to the other quests in the game from the camp.

Not showing what I wrote: Was saying that the solution won't work for me because was in the middle of getting all my DLC - including the stuff included with the Deluxe Edtion which I have - so right now I'm unable to play at all since my saved game includes some stuff from the DLCs I already got - but can't download all the ones I own and play the saved game I currently have if I decided to just ignore the issue to proceed.

Yep, Awesome, i used the "find and replace" in wordpad so it went quick as well and my save started up just fine... i even had the Blood dragon plate equipped on my companion, i wont strip him out of it though, he may just loose it and run around stark naked, and we can't have that now can we... GREAT THANKS eredhel. and great ****** at EA or bioware or whatever. 'Tis an most unwelcome experience anyhow.

If you want to praise and thank RaenImrahl for the community work he has done, especially over the past few days, you can actually do so in this dedicated thread...
