guys i have the solution and it works 10000000% promise so this is what you have to do<br />
<br />
Locate AddIns.xml in "C:/Users/(Username)/Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings" and edit it using WordPad or any XML editor. Replace all RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0".<br />
<br />
Run the game and check to see if everything worked!<br />
<br />
<br />
if it worked say it here so that the others can see that it worked

Thanks very much, this worked where everything else wasn't.:blush:

Now I have equipment missing though...

In most cases this will just let you load the Saved Game, but you won't be able to use your DLC. Also you run the risk of damaging your Save File (should you save), and then having problems once the server issue is fixed and you get to properly activate the DLC.

SO! Crashing over here too!

It looks like servers are back - could resume a game the regular way and online, however got the message "an error occurred while accessing your online data storage" (or something like that)...

Oh, goodness, now Levi Dryden is back in my camp! Seems that servers are KIND of back but also demented... well, at least something is happening...

So, it's "LOG OUT" again. Everything works that way, however...

Yeah, it's disgraceful, but they still haven't managed to fix the problem. What's up with companies like EA and Sony that are so worried about piracy that they punish the people who pay for their games?

All this stupid crap about having to log in to play etc. is only there because of their anti-piracy panic. I am sure there are better ways of dealing with it than this, but as it stands only people who play by their rules are punished and I am not a happy customer.

and logged on again tonight, no game server for me and my little fantasy world of having a working EA, DAO server! this is getting pathetic really! common guys you have PAYING clients wanting to use a product that they PAYED for bloody hell, this should actually be illegal imo!

THank you for the Input. It doesn't help my brother (who got Ultimate ED Last Saturday, so it isn't registered). He'll do the search & replace once it's Authenticated once, however.

I had seriously considered 'acquiring' this game myself. But, then i thought, Hey maybe I'll buy the game and do the whole upstanding taxpayer lawabiding citizen thang.

Learned my lesson, anyway, that's for damn sure....

Well, can you believe it!!!!!! logged on this morning, and what do you know all my DLC is updated, my points showing and all my DLC that i purchased ages ago are showing and set to enabled with no work arounds and no hastle!!! i mean ITS BLOODY TIME!! thank you EA for finally doing your job much appreciated 5 days later. I wonder how many potential clients and sales you lost cause of this "little" incedent and it all could have been avoided if there was some sort of feedback from a really really still EA and Bioware side. and tbh how much would it have cost to get one techy to write here that you are aware of a problem and are working on resolving the problem but instead lets keep quite not cause panic and try and sort it out without anyone noticing, but you were wrong ppl DID notice and ppl are ticked off but then again, "pfffft they are only consumers of an old outdated game who cares we dont need to communicate anything at all they will just have to live with it."

Sigh

But now we can all again "enjoy" the game till the next little problem and go thru the exact same issues and complaints and wonderings EXCEPT if something is done differently.

But lets see.....

What Bearded Burbler linked fixed the unauthorized unless logged in issue for me.  If you have DA:O UE from (at least Impulse) you have to modify your registry and copy your product key from:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Electronic Arts\\Electronic Arts\\Dragon Age Origins - Ultimate Edition\\ergc

to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Electronic Arts\\Electronic Arts\\Dragon Age\\ergc

The product key is stored in the (Default) value... it should be a string of numbers.  Double-click the value and copy/paste it.

You can verify this worked by checking the Configuration utility under the "Game" tab.  You should now see your DA:O UE key listed.  Launch the game, log back in to reauthorize and verify on the Downloadable Content screen.  If everything shows good, log out and close DA:O.

Relaunch DA:O and check your DLC again, make sure it's still authorized while logged out.  Finally, load a save game and make sure your characters still have their DLC gear (if you're using any).

If you are on Win7 x64, the correct hive is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Wow6432Node\\Electronic Arts\\Electronic Arts\\Dragon Age Origins - Ultimate Edition\\ergc

move your key to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Wow6432Node\\Electronic Arts\\Electronic Arts\\Dragon Age\\ergc

This should probably be added to the first post so that others don't have to dig around like I did.

Yea! Thanks. Things seem to be up and running. Whew, because, frankly, the fixes left me flummoxed. I'm not a techie. My idea of a help ticket is..."It's not working." :)

Don't forget everyone, once it's authorised you can play in offline mode.
you are correct though(Jrheymans) a message from Bioware would have been nice.
