DAO, DA2, anyone checked out "The Witcher 2"?

Anyway, to those that wish there was character customization pertaining to gender, keep in mind that there are no female Witchers in Sapkowski's World.
A better notion would be for CDProjekt Red to make Triss Merigold (Gerald's woman) a playable character. She's a powerful Sorceress and an interesting character in her own right, so she wouldn't be overshadowed by Geralt.

Except there is. As I mentioned in my above post, The Witcher was not known to the English speaking world at the time of release, and all of the existing material for the universe rotates, primarily, around Geralt. It's not like, say, Middle-Earth where there's rather literally dozens of books and stories pertaining to the world, hence why it's able to be more open and free. But with The Witcher, Geralt is the single most prominent character in the series, and it's really all about him. The books, the show, the film - All are about Geralt. The only way the game could make sense is if it was about Geralt. If you remember from the game, he's also one of the last Witchers left (Which, I believe, follows on from the books).Addai67 wrote...
It's not trolling just because it's an opinion you disagree with. For RPG fans, that is a legitimate criticism of the game. There's nothing that says CD Projekt Red couldn't have made a game set in Sapkowski's world, loosely based on Geralt of Rivia, but have the hero be "The Witcher" who is either male or female and with flexible backstory.
Maybe something more open could happen down the line, we don't know, but The Witcher, as a game, had to be about Geralt. It just wouldn't work any other way.

agreed. At least in Poland this must be Geralt... and because CDP can't do other version for rest of the world... then Geralt stay's.

Man I think I need to start a drinking game because every time I hear somebody bring up the god damn Witcher, I need a shot.
Ooh, that sounds fun! Is it going to be deadly like the "Thunderstruck drinking game", or "The Stephen King drinking game"?

I think that drinking Game would cause an "unexplained" spike in the number of Alcohol Poisoning cases being seen in Emergency Rooms.

I'd rather CD Projekt create their own IP with fully customizable characters rather than rely on The Witcher universe for future games.

Well, it's the CDProjekt Conference this coming Thursday, and both CDProjekt RED (The Witcher devs) and the Gog.com team have stuff planned so we might get a hint about a new project. It'd be interesting to see what they do with their own ideas, I agree, but I think The Witcher - as it stands - is absolutely vital to CDProjekt RED's success as a developer. The Witcher 1 was almost unbelievably successful as far as PC RPGs go, with the sequel looking to do just as well (If not better).ErichHartmann wrote...

TW2 is a lot of firsts for them, such as the release of their first engine (REDengine, according to their latest newsletter), so we'll just have to see what happens.

This does end up being the case with most developers.

Except CDProjekt RED aren't an independent developer; They're part of CDProjekt, who are a major publisher in Eastern Europe (And also Russia, I think, but I could be wrong), just as, say, BioWare are a part of EA and id are part of ZeniMax.wolfsite wrote...
IT will be funny though when CDProject becomes a much bigger company than all the fans turn on them for no longer being what they used to be and move on to the next Indie darling.

Even The Witcher Enhanced Edition is one of the best RPG nowadays. Geralt of Rivia (main character) based on the novels of Andrzej Sapkowski is cooler than Hawke, you'll see it soon (17 May). Then he will kick haters' ass.

What I like about its studio is that they really investigated what people wanted in the new game (and still be true to the books it is based on). They also did that for distribution of the game. The standard version has features usually found in a collector's edition (like a 96 page gameplay book, sound track, etc.), the digital version is the same (documentation in PDF), and a very cool CE. All versions have no copy protection. People didn't really like achievements, so it is not there, unless you have the Steam version, in which case you'll get Steam achievements. People don't like that there are different international release dates, so there is one world wide release date. People wanted to have a single price world wide. That was due to taxes hard, but they tried. In the cases where it wasn't possible you can get other games from GoG for the prize difference. Some people don't like bonus DLCs, so you can buy a version without them and have a 10% prize reduction instead. That doesn't win me over when it is a bad game, but it sure gives me the feeling that the company cares for what people want and are trying to do the best they can.

If they are being accurate about the endings though, that sounds good. 10 very different endings with 5 or 6 slightly different.

I don't understand how some would want a prospective rpg to be bad. Seriously? There are few enough RPGs today, and even less promising ones. I would think a sane, reasonable person would want more good games as opposed to less.

I don't think people here can stand the possibility that another RPG will be better than DA2, or that another game company can make better RPGs. It's really weird.I Valente I wrote...
Hopefully it's good. The first one was great, except for the combat. The combat was just something to suffer through. It looks like they're fixing that this time around, so it it seems that the witcher will be picking the ball that bioware dropped.

I just hope it does well because it's PC exclusive, and could possibly breath life into PC exclusive RPGs. Probably won't even if it is successful, but it's nice to hope. Regardless of whether I like it or not.

You said CDP(RED) are an indie, which can really only apply to the developer, hence the correction. But, if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.wolfsite wrote...

I said when they become a "larger company" I never said anywhere about them being independant nor did I even say anything about CDP(RED) specifically.

And the amount of bandwagon hate on these forums is quite amusing. I mean, Bethesda forum seems like a peace-loving, open minded sort when compared to this place.

This a hundred times. Like in the Gothic series, It's about this one certain person, the witcher Geralt.
Heck, even the name of the game should be an obvious pointer, you just can't throw that concept outta the window for the sake of fanservice, which is why I like CD PRojekt(for them staying true to the original, not because of restricting female characters, just sayin' for all those sexist accusers).

Believe me the Wticher forum has the same amount bandwagon of hate for bioware, I think it is mutual feeling and about the game well I like the first even with is downsides which were a lot but I expect a great rpg on May.
What I find kinda funny is that TW 2 has actually things that most ppl said they hate about DA 2 console port, action game, no tactical camera, shorten dialogs, etc so yup it is kinda of ironic
