Doing a bit of research into the history of the Second Orlesian Invasion of Ferelden, and reading about Maric and his mother Moira in the Stolen Throne. I found it very odd that there is mention of his grandfather, King Brandel, but no mention of his father.
Searching these forums didn't yield anything, but the dragonage wikia (hardly an authoritative source, but the only one I could find) entry on Queen Moira says:
She had Maric by a relation of Teyrn Voric of Gwaren, but after the father's death raised Maric on her own.
Obviously I enjoyed the games enough to get David Gaider's books and read both of them, as well as the Green Ronin pen & paper RPG, and I would love to hear any other sources or material people have on Maric's father.
Maric's father?

Seems that, like Alistair, he was a bastard... Could that be the source of his insecurity?

Maric's father came from Gwaren and was executed by the Orlesians along with most of that family. Hence why the teyrnir was empty after the war. Let me see if I can find a link for you.
Ok, here's one- about halfway down the page.

Ah, the old forums, I overlooked them in my search. Excellent find Addai67. Thank you.

You're welcome. That thread, though very long, has lots of good tidbits. It's such a good story, I wish we got more about Moira than just glimpses.

I agree entirely. In fact that is in part why I am researching that perod, as a setting for the pen & paper to run during Moria's rebellion.

Cool, is this something you'll put online or you mean informally for some of your gaming buddies?

Actually I had not considered playing online. My local gaming friends are looking for an alternative to D&D and I am hoping they will like the AGE mechanics and the deep setting of Dragon Age. Maybe if the campaign goes well, I will post it online for others to use.

Do so, I'd be very interested!
