I apologize if this has been asked already but I looked through the first few pages of the forum and didn't see anything.

I'm making some custom armor. I want to know how, if it is even possible, to change the color of the armor. (I know selecting different material changes the look but that also changes the stats).

I'd also like to know how you can make an item set bonus, again, if possible.

Thanks in advance.

Well, you can retexture the armour (replace the diffuse texture). It might also be possible just to change the colour by using the tint system, but I have not tried doing that for armours, so I'm not sure if it will work.

If you retexture the armour, you have the option of either overriding/replacing the current one or creating a new model using the modified texture and making that available as well in the toolset - it's nit quite clear to me what you need.

I'm guessing the tint system is my best bet because I don't know the first thing about textures. No idea how to work the tint system though, lol.

Dude... if you can figure that out make some white Legion armor. That would look SO sweet.

I've messed with Tint with no noticeable results in the toolset. I ended up just using material, like you stated, then compensating with the stats I could modify. Only did a light armor though.

I'm very interested to hear how to tweak it too.

from what i understand (looking through pre existing items). Materialtype is what it looks like and progression is what tier it will be... i can't confirm this however... i still can't get my head round scripting items in to my game without messing it up...

It is my understanding that Material Type is what material it is and determins its bonuses and color.

Material Progression is if a vendor sells it or if you find it as random treasure what tier it will be.

If you set it as "All Metal" and you sell it to a merchant, when you come back it will progress (possibly even degress) to the appropriate tier as dictated by your level.

If you set progress as a specific material it means it will not change at all.

considering you can choose gold as a material type... i don't think it will affect the stats? but i havent played around with it unfortunately... incidently, if you look at the axe "bloodline" its material is red steel i believe but it is silverite...

You might be able to choose gold from the list of material types, but that does mean you are supposed to :)

Specific material types have various modifiers and multipliers attached to them in case of armors, shields or weapons as well as defining the items tier and they all have respective prefixes in the toolset. You could of course choose other material types for your items, but by default those materials would not contribute much to the overall result and item quality.

I made some custom armor based on the encanters robe. I am able to get it into the game for use and can modify the dds textures to change the look. How do I use the modifed dds textures so they only work on my new custom armor and not override all armor of that type?
