I don't know if this has been sovled or not, but I have issues with my sound only having what I've been calling, 2 levels, 100 and mute. Voice and music are fine, but for some odd reason, unless the sound effect volume is at 0, I can't hear ANYTHING over the annoying sound effects, because when I turn them from anywhere between 1 and 100, it always sounds liek its at 100. So I have to mute it to hear anything else, so far as what I can tell its the game, because I have everything updated, I've tried some of the other random sound issues fixes. PLEASE, I need help with this, its driving my crazy...

Are you saying you can hardly hear any dialogue because the environments sound like a noisy factory? If so it is probably because the game's sound is configured to run in hardware mode and your sound card is not supported. I had the same problem on my old pc. There is a link somewhere (can't remember where now) that gives a list of supported sound cards.

In any case, there is a work-around. You can change the game's configuration for the sound to run in software mode. It's not as good as hardware mode but does the job nonetheless.
