Sorry if it was already put to attention.
When I'm in the middle of a fight, and I activate a special ability of some companion, it happens quite often that he/she does not use the skill against the enemy he's currently fighting with (the one I would like to use the ability on), but he/she starts suddenly to move away and directs his blow towards another enemy. Sometimes they choose quite a far target, with the consequence that they leave, for example, the front line of the combat, which is quite irritating because it disrupts my combat strategy.
Note that I disable the tactics and I "hold" the companions during the combats, in order to have the maximum control of their movements (yes, I'm a puppeteer), so the cause must be somewhere else.

Do you have all behaviors set to "Passive"? It's possible that the other behaviors may trigger some autonomous, er, behavior—even if tactics are disabled and companions are held.
Just speculation but it might be something to check!

but if I disable completely the tactics, why would the set tactics behavior influence how my companions move in combat?

Directed at wrong enemies with hold actually on? Hm, that sounds kinda weird.. does it happen alot? Would think that with hold on they wouldn't have a single thought in their mind that you haven't placed there yourself

It happens quite often, yes... and yes, with the "hold" active.
I'm surprised, though, that no other person reported this effect...
