He is sexist, because?.. He makes Isolde do the dishes?.. Or is it because there are only men in the militia? If it is the second, i'm sorry to break it to you, but it is Teagan who drafted them. The Angry One wrote...

Established. As am I, in reality. Not in fiction however. You remind me of the type of person who'd go through old movies to digitally remove cigarettes. I think if there was a mod to remove all sexism in Origins you'd install it in a heartbeat. I wonder if you have read A Song of Ice and Fire, I wouldn't be surprised if you hadn't. Doesn't sound like the type of thing you could stomach without sending martin a few angry letters.

I just don't get my panties in a twist over a fantasy civilisation not being exactly like ours.

Neither do I. I played the NWN series, and loved it (especially MotB). Not an ounce of sexism.

Thinkin someone else is that kind of extreme goes to show more about you to be honest. You want the world to be more dark and sexist and probably having rapes every other day in front you and so on. But others around who do not agree with you must be complete P.C. Prudes. It's not the case. It's more like you trying to make things that aren't there and upset cause it's not as raunchy as your liking. If you don't like go wait for something like Duke Nukem for all your Nudity, poop throwing, giant monster boobs and or ball sacks to punch to your heart's content.
Just don't treat everyone you don't agree with you as prudes who didn't want to see these things vocally. I think it's more like the following.
They do not covet things like sexism, nudity, rape and other things of that nature.
They don't worry about complaining if any are there as long as it's not to the point that it's all the development play time or probably if it detracts from the entire story.
One player posted how Bioware could learn a lot by looking at Witcher. Many females didn't agree.

Just imagine Sten finally arrives to report and someone goes,
"He's gone."
"What?"
"He's on a boat to chasing some thief"
"MOTHER F@#$ER!"

Is it allowed that someone following the Qun learn from embarrassing mistakes or does it say that you have to keep screwing up over and over.
Don't approve of dangerous mages.....get spanked when they invaded.
Don't approve of rogue like abilities and rogue like behavoiur, loose their book a few times.

All right, I'll give you that. It was in retort to the equally unfounded accusation that I am a misogynist. I apologise for calling Angry One a PC busybody.
I don't especially want the world to be more dark and sexist, rather, I do not wish it to be less. Sexism was present to varying degrees in Origins, thus the design team specifically meant to include it. Sexism is not present in DA2, thus the design team meant to exclude it. Why? Things like slavery and racism are safer subjects to address; slaves and elves are not going to play dragon age. Women are however.

Plus it kinda was in DA2. When a female Hawke talks to her mother in the estate, the mom says at the end of that first conversation "now I just have to focus on finding you a good husband." I don't think she says that if you're a guy?

Why is it so essential to have more sexism in DA2? I'm confused. I enjoyed A Song of Ice and Fire, but I enjoyed DA2 as well. I'd be fine if DA2 had it but I don't really mind that it doesn't. It's not like I need fiction to remind me that sexism exists, as well as other forms of prejudice that we need to deal with.

In a way I envy your easy going nature. I like consistency, and the world portrayed in DA2 (on this theme and many others) is not consistent with Origins. That is what irks me. If it doesn't, then you're in a better position than me.
I remember that dialog. Save, and then sleep with isabella, then see what she says. I haven't done so as male yet, but I am willing to bet the resulting dialog is the same for both genders.

Do you really like consistency? Origins was that game where you saw many women as soldiers at Ostagar. But then at Redcliffe, people are expecting women to hide in the Chantry when monsters come to kill them all.
You got Vartag being upset about Rica being near the Assembly saying it's no place for a woman. Then you look into the Assembly and see women deshyrs.

In the CE Origin there is a girl who is worried because her parents want to move them to Ostagar for work. She is afraid what the soldiers will do to her since they wouldn't have any women out there. You can help her but it turns out besides the whole maybe die'n from the Darkspawn Forces, there were definitely women all over in Ostagar.
Expecting every guy to think women are weaker and shouldn't have an opinion? No this doesn't have to be in the game. It wasn't like that in the Circle Tower, Dalish Camps, Castle Cousland, About all of Denerim and the list goes on. Wanting it to be like little snippets you got from a handful of dwarves? No, it's like reading far too much of what was one of the smallest parts of Origins.
