I haven't played the console version, but seen videos of it and I can say it looks much easier. On one video I saw, the guy was just controlling a warrior and plowing through everything with the rest of his party on auto-pilot.

I think the gameplay experience regarding combat is totally different, and understandably so, because I don't know how you could have tactical combat without a top-down view and being able to accurately position your characters with point and click.

They both have good points, Xbox version is easier and you don't need to hold tab down to see all the scrolls, books and stuff. In the pc version you can use the toolkit so you can put the dragon armour on straight away or put cunning at 50 so you persuade everybody.

Because they are PC elitists and think everybody has enough money to buy a über PC.

Since console players are always kids, who are generally bad at challenging RPGs like DA:O, Bio toned down the difficulty of the game on consoles to prevent them from crying if they die too much.

Since fanboys are always kids I am writing this post using mostly your words to show you that you are a moron.

If the enemies are indeed toned down for the console versions it's likely because consoles lack the physical ability to display that much on the screen at one time.  Sorta like how the graphics are a bit more lacklucter on the consoles due to limited texture memory.....<_<

I don't hate the console versions, because I don't have the console versions. I only have my PC version and I know that it is better due to better controls, camera view, difficulty and graphics.

Enemies are stronger on the console versions, on the pc they are weaker but come with more.

My party can get torn to shreds by a big pack of wolves that are weak individually. Fewer stronger enemies are easier to fight through than lots of less powerful ones, especially given the flanking bonuses that they get when they overwhelm you.

Yes, thats why the DA:O tournament in England before the games release was all done on the console version because you have to keep a fast pace to cover all the tournament goals and it would take a lot longer on the PC version. For the same price, I think the PC version willl be able 3-4x the length of playability becuase of the tactical breadth of the game.

The more strategic and tactical the game is the more options you need to support those decisions and a console can only have so much going on before it reaches its limit in terms of code or hardware or whathaveyou. I doubt a game like Civilization 4 would be anywhere near the breath of playability and modding ability on a console as it is on the PC.

Consoles excel at first-person shooter games mostly where you need a faster gun-n-go type of system. As more strategic and tactical a game gets a PC starts to excel more for this type of game. This is a general pricinpal not one written in stone. Doom and Quake are a perfect example where they are fantastic as 1st-person shooters on a PC but would have more limitations put on them on a console I would think. The inverse would be true of other games that would see limitations put on them in a PC version.

To be fair, you can run through the game on the pc just controlling a warrior and plowing through everything without touching the rest of the party if you have the game on easy and a few tactics set.

I'm not sure about that. I just about wanted to punch a hole in the wall from reloading the Redcliff Castle battle sequence played in normal mode on the PC. My GOD was that part hard! 26 deaths in a row. No matter what I did.

I may be young i do love me a challenging game, although 15 isn't THAT young. It seems everyone on the internet hates everyone under 18.

People think it's fun to call console gamers and WoW players L33t kids. x)

I have never seen those kids in Any console game or WoW.

I'm sorry. Bioware themselves have stated officially console users will be getting harder enemies to balance out the number of onscreen enemies so difficulty is balanced, or should I say normalized, between pc versions and console versions. Clunky controls! The control scheme for dao is imo better than keyboard and mouse once get used to it. I've played both and feel the controls can do everything the pc version can and the game really flows a helluva a lot better than the pc versions, therefore the whole notion that the controls are "clunky" in comparison is just a joke. Graphics are just as good.. unless you are a texture **** that thinks a slightly better texture on a game that sports the worst graphics of any game to begin with is a joke. The only difference i see is downloadable mods/user created stuff.. most of which will be hit or miss anyways and bioware will most definetly make available the must have stuff for console users anyways.

Why do pc users hate consoles? Jealousy.... Just mad that consoles have dominted the gaming market and stole it from pc's and this is comming from someone who has a more than capable gaming pc and uses it for games as well.

That was BY FAR the most difficult part of the game for me (we're talking about the village attack, right?). Ugh. Just constantly getting overwhelmed and surrounded, and then very shortly after it was all she wrote, time to try again.

This is also ridiculous. I have both a gaming capable PC and a 360, and use both, and like both. Not jealous of either or hating on anybody; anyways, I'm loving DA on the PC.

I had neither spell at that point. Went there right after Lothering, and proceded to get slaughtered over and over again, haha.

Enjoying the 360 version just fine here. I only wish I had gotten the PS3 version but evidently they were shipped late so I wound up with a 360 copy.

It's fine btw. It's a more actiony experience but that's really the only difference.

I have both versions, PC and XBox and quite frankly I'm enjoying the console version better. Now granted, I'm certainly not an "elite" gamer, but neither am I a child. (44 yrs old, professional software developer) I have the PC version because I'm interested in the toolset, but not for making mods, for delving into machinima. As fare as playing user made mods, I have little or no interest in it. It's far more preferable to sit in my recliner, playing on my 62" TV in my roomy living room than it is in my cramped computer room, with the uncomfrtable desk chair.

And before people start spouting off with "hook your PC up to the TV", it's just not feasible. I'm not going to lug my computer into the living room to just play a game. Plus my computer is for other things, such as video editing, movie making, software development, etc... And I'm not going to be comfortable doing that in the living room...

And for the record, I've had no problems with the controls.  I have experienced a few glitches, but nothing all that vastly different than what the PC users might experience as well.
