Link to my actual character, though I wish the armor would actually show it's the champion gear.

3. Shield Bash & Pummel
4. Scatter & Disperse
5. Safeguard

Nope, I don't record my game play, I suggest you try it.  It was a long & boring fight, but a safe fight none the less, when hit that 20% & lower mark, I just 1 shotted him.

What is the build progression?
What is the attribute progression?
Is this designed for Nightmare?
What were your tactics for this build while you were controlling a companion? Are they NM compatible?
What weapons/gear/spec did you have during the Arishok dual?
What weapons/gear/spec did you have before Champions gear in Act 3?
Who were your prefered companions through the game with this build?
What were your companions specs & roles?

Any feedback is appreciated.

1. You'll want to spec out to the passives in Sword & Shield & Vanguard before the Arishok Fight, As much of the Templar before that as well(I can't recal exact progression that was my 3rd play session).

2. Strength/Con/Willpower are your 3 major points.  Followed by Dex to help get more crits in, when your just stabbing away.

3. I did it on Hard, not Nightmare, though I don't see why it couldn't handle nightmare, seeing how I had little worries on Hard.

4. (Not sure what NM Compatible is), but for tactics, Taunt nearsest Enemy, Silence anyone using Magic, if anyone has a buff at Short Range use Cleansing Aura, 75% or less health start using Cleave Buff. Self Surronded by 3 or More Enemies use Smite, 4 or more use Scatter.  Always having Might on & Shield Defense.  Use Pommel Strike & Shield bash on Nearest Visible Enemy.

5. Gear, I was Stonehammer Armor Set, Shield:(I am trying to remember, I really can't recal), Weapon: Edge of Song & Glory. (Minus the chest piece, I got a piece of Armor in the fight with the Qunari in Hightown, where Meridith saves you, it's a chest armor piece always drops off the Sten guy I believe, used that, it was much  higher then what I had prieviously used).

6. Prefered Companions: Anders(we all know why), Merril(She was AoE DPS), Isabella or Varic(I would swap em in & out, though I Stuck to Isabella  more to help single target dps also).  Both Varric & Isabella had Scoundrel Tree up to where they got stamina back & branded.  No Stealth, mostly thier own & Archery/Dual Blades stuff.  Anders would Haste & heal us, Merril would drop massive AOE.

7. Companion spec's, Merril was all Primal/All Spirit(minus Dispel Magic, she had her Aura(both buffs), her PBAOE attack, she had Arcane Shield/Mind Blast also.  Anders was Panacea Spec'd, Creation Spec, beyond that I really didn't use much point's elsewhere(You'll want to get his one passive that drops cooldowns considerable in his Justice side spec).  Pointed out Varric/Isabella already.

Sometimes, for kicks I would take Merril out & Turtle grind(Aveline & Hawk).  She was Battlemonger/Warmaster/Shield & Sword/Her Personal spec. (Though I never used Bodyguard or Retaliation).

I hope this helps, I am seriously trying remember the shield I had.  The Arishok fight, Just you, your dog & quaff a Stone Armor Potion & Have lots of heals/elf root potions.  You basically stand there just trade blows for a long time, twice, I had to run around a pillar for couple seconds, waiting for a potion recharge.  When he starts his crazy whirlwind crap, just pommel strike him(use that ability only, just Pommel Strike & Basic attacks).

Stats

Strength: 39+13
Dexterity: 18+7
Magic: 13+7
Cunning: 13+7
Willpower: 30+8
Constitution: 31+9

How much did you feel your templar spells swayed the course of the Arishok fight?

I may of used a silence once or twice, but to be honest, I probably very little, the Templar was more story based & useful for everything else(all abominations/rogue mages, etc..)

The Arishok fight literally was like watching an old school duel, they stand there just trading blows back & forth, drinking a potion, it's a long fight(He drinks 2-3 potions(arishok), but relativily safe).

1. You'll want to spec out the passives out of Sword & Shield & Vanguard before the Arishok Fight, As much of the Templar before that as well(I can't recal exact progression that was my 3rd play session).

So you dont suggest buying the Tomes of Skill from Hubert in Act 1 or the Dalish Vendor in Act 2?

2. Strength/Con/Willpower are your 3 major points.  Followed by Dex to help get more crits in, when your just stabbing away.

So I should spread my points evenly as I level? 1 str, 1 will, 1 con? When should I start putting points in to only dex for crits?

3. I did it on Hard, not Nightmare, though I don't see why it couldn't handle nightmare, seeing how I had little worries on Hard.

So your not sure if it can?

4. Should I use those tactics if Im playing on Nightmare? If no, then what would you suggest I use for tactics on Nightmare if I happen to be controlling a companion?

Did Varric or Isabela use any Disorienting abilities?
Did Merrill get the upgrades for Disoriented CCC from Stonefist, Spirit Bolt, or Walking Bomb?
Did you use Death Syphon? If yes, then how did you set the tactics for it to activate? Or did you just leave it on?
Did she use Walking Bomb from the Spirit tree? How would you use this on Nightmare difficulty?
Did she upgrade Arcane Shield & Mind Blast at all?

I bought every tome/potion. Used the Mage Potion on Merril. I never respec'd after the Arishok duel, in fact, I don't believe I respec'd at all. I plan in advance & stick to said plan.

Point spending, I did them groups of 3, each chapter, I wanted the 2 mains to be at the crucial points, meaning Str/Con where at 20 in Act 1, Act 2 they where at least 30, etc..  When I hit those goal points, I then worked on Willpower & evening out stats.

Those tactics should work just as Good in Nightmare.  Varric had the 1 Miasma Gernade, with upgrade, that was it.  Isabella had her AoE upgraded so it stunned.  Yes to all Merril(I had her turn it on always, they always had toggles on always, makes life easier that way).  Walking Bomb was always casted on enemy with lowest health(I usually played as her to make sure explosion went off in a clustered group(usually with a Tempest going off too).

So which abilities did you prioritize after losing those bonus skill/attribute points you paid 60+ gold for, when you used Maker's Sigh?

I lost no bonus points, he never respec'd, the bonuses are from Set Items, Jewelery, & Valiance Rune.  In fact I think the only person I ever used a Maker's Sigh on was my only mage, because I kept trying various builds, before settling on a more passive aggressive build for her.

Any points aquired from tomes bought from a shop outside the Black Emporium are lost after using Maker's Sigh.

Did you or did you not respec prior to the dual with the Arishok?

-looks up at above posts couple times-

I have stated, I "Never" used said potion.  Not once, I don't know how many more times you want me to say this, perhaps you would like me to sing you a song about how I never used Maker's Sigh?

Then why suggest that others use it prior to facing the Arishok?

Where did I do/say that?

Edit: After looking it over, I didn't, so your the one with Egg on your face, after trying to debunk/belittle? Sure questions where nice, I answered them just fine, but I know what ulterior motive was.

That link goes directly to the exact post, if you allow the browser to finish taking you to it, in which you stated:

Your build states:

Weapon & Shield
2. Perception
5. Safeguard

Vanguard
3. Destroyer
5. Massacre

So, did you respec prior to the dual? If not, why suggest to others that they should?

-rolls eyes- Now your just grasping for straws here.

Spec not RESPEC or USE MAKER'S SIGH.

Spec or specialize into as in training(your not hip to old school lingo of RPGs?).  As in take said abilities before you get to point you Duel the Arishok.  Not once did I mention go use a Maker's Sigh.  If I had done so, I would said ok what you want to do is go Respec.

If you are going berserker simply for 10 stamina generation, you may consider going Reaver instead and using one point on blood frenzy.

I've been playing SnS Templar through nightmare atm, and while its good, its not great.

Problem is templar spells are FF, so your cleansing aura will remove heroic aura and smite will kill any friends nearby.

Damage is good because of the vanguard spec, but I think I will go reaver for sacrificial frenzy.
