I just came across it during this playthrough while looking for Sketch's assassins.  It isn't really a secret passage, but it isn't on the map either.  Does anyone know if there is a quest that opens the door at the end of the long "secret" hallway?

The entrance to the hallway (secret passage) can be located to the far Southwest in the hightown map.  I haven't checked at daytime yet (since I wanted to ask you guys while I still cared enough to pause and write this), but there are two torches lighting the entrance if you go there at night.

I didn't notice it til my fourth playthrough. Nothing there but random loot once in a while.

There's a chest there and an ambush spawn of blood mages there after a quest in act 3. The chest is just random loot.

there's a few similar hidden paths with loot at the Wounded Coast. not marked on the map and hidden behind bushes. but usually a chest or skeleton or something

That walkway is also the one that Varric gets dragged down by the templars in the opening cinematic.

Which is weird because at the end of the game Cassandra walks out of assumedly where that walkway leads and exits through the front door of Hawke's manor.

I can't find it.

Is it there in Act 1 and 2? where exactly is the entrance. Does it look like a door?

It's there in all three acts. Go to the Hightown estates and run along the farthest wall. You should see a doorway with no door. It's by where you later go and visit the Comtesse's place.

it's not exactly hidden or secret in the way you'd expect, but unless you look from the right angle or get close to it, then you likely won't notice it because at a glance it looks just like the rest of the wall, and it's not on the map. but there's actually a small alcove with a dead end path which sometimes will have a chest at the end (check day and night in all 3 acts)
