The software companies complain how their bottom-line is hurt by piracy and demand stiffer laws and penalties.
To combat piracy it would seem Bioware has chosen to penalize their legitimate customers.

It seems that  Bioware is more concerned with their full pockets as opposed to the people who line those pockets their customers. This unauthorized DLC business should never have happened. We have every right to complain considering we purchased the product. We did not lease it. Whether it be by mistake or not they are denying us access to a property that we are lawful owners of. This is not right. Bioware's anti-piracy protocol is infringing on our own right to ownership of a property.

EVERYBODY DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR!

BOYCOTT BIOWARE!

THEY HATE PIRATES!
I'M NOT A PIRATE AND I HATE THE MAFIA! THAT'S YOU BIOWARE!

I do not agree with a call to boycott... however... I will suggest that you post this instead in the general forum, where you'll get a lot more eyeballs. This forum is specifically about how to fix technical issues. I know it's kind of devolved into something else this weekend, but once the servers get back up, I hope this forum will also be able to resume normal service.

Well ... since it's not Bioware's fault but EA's servers that are having problems you're totally right to blame Bioware xD

Besides, this DRM system is pretty fine for me ... compared to some other systems that came before it.

It's like hitting your hand with a slightly smaller hammer.

Well you'd wonder how much more painful using a smaller hammer is :D

LOL @Mister! Exactly. Any DRM that negatively impacts legitimate installations is still a negative impact.

"I'm sorry I ran over you with my truck...:"
"That's okay...it's fine...at least it's only a half ton and not a three quarter ton..."

Who cares which particular company's fault it is? If the fault lies with Bioware, EA Games, or the secret transmitter the government implanted in my teeth, the effect is still the same; to wit: I can't play a game I bought from those moneygrubbers with my own hard earned money.

Tomorrow morning I guess I go to work. I'll guess I'll work all through the week. And (unlike the tiny little reward I looked forward to all through last workweek) I guess this coming workweek I'll wonder if Bioware/EA-Games will be so kind as to permit me to utilize my own property next weekend.

My first experience with DRM was with Spore.

It's never seemed like a good Idea since.

Yeah... You know? I'm aware that they are not going to do any more expansions, DLCs, etc. for DA:O. However, the least they could do to ensure continued support of their software by their customers is to release a patch that converts the current DRM to one that isn't reliant on yet another company's servers staying up and to that company's tech support whims.

DA:O is the only game I've done on electronic purchase that is reliant on someone else's equipment being up, running, and without issue (that isn't an MMO).

I'm also very annoyed about all this. What's odd though is that I've been able to play for months without issues when I was finally authorized to the content, but when I was to play this weekend I couldn't load my save. What's more is that it's my first playthrough and I was about to begin the final battle...

I wonder if BioWare (or whatever) has problems with their servers, are here others who have suddenly been unauthorized?
