Does anyone else feel that some of the voice choices for the characters dont fit with the name they are given. i was making a Dalish Elven Rogue and when i was going through the voice choices the Violent one just didnt "feel" very threatening or violent to me and even the stuff he said didnt seem to mean. ... idk maybe my ears are just broken

The voices don't fit my character either..not so much the name..but the look...luckily it doesn't matter too much...since your char isn't voiced..it's only for combat yells and such.

A few sounded a bit out of place, but I always found at least one in a set that I felt worked fine. We'll only be hearing them as battle cries, and, while battles will be common, I'm sure the others' voices and the other various noises of battle will probably drone the PC out a bit.

Agreed. My roommate and I had a conversation about this when I first got the CC. I'd almost call one or two of the Violent voice sets the gentlest sounding ones, even. Makes me wonder if they named them "violent' as a joke...

I agree, violent doesn't seem very maniacal. They should have at least included one worthy of a straight-jacket. :(

Violent is terrible, especially for the male Elves. Sounds more like some meek teen with a cracking voice trying and completely failing to sound tough. It doesn't even seem to have any battle cries (or at least, I never hear them). Mystical for nearly all races and sexes, though, does, which is just damn bizarre.

I thought they were all perfectly suited to their titles with the exception of the female elf 'Mystical.' She simply sounds obnoxious.

'GREETINGS!' — My ears, they bleed.

Anyway, with regards to the 'Violent' voice sets, I think many are only disoriented by them because they're equating violence with gruffness and stupidity. Several of them seem to me that they're intended to sound more testy or short-fused than simply barbaric.

I still laugh at the thought that when I first clicked "Intelligent" or whatever the name is, the first sound he made was "WRAWRARWARARGH!" That said, I do think the "Intelligent" voice sounds best.

They fit pretty loosely. Like they may have one comment that fits into how their categorized.

I know I'm generally not a fan of the wise and mystical options.

Female Elf Mystical - does anyone get an Oblivion Orc vibe from this?

They don't have to sound gruff or stupid to be violent, yes - but they don't even sound testy or short-fused to me.

A bit off topic but I do like your avatar. Do post some pics of it in my thread.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned that the sound sets voiced by Kath Soucie are labeled "sultry." For those who don't know, Kath Soucie often voices young children, and was the VO behind Aerie in BG2. The last voice on earth I'd call "sultry."

I really, really, REALLY wish they could have used David Hayter for one of the voices so my Naked Snake would actually sound like him too. THAT would be cool. So would a Dwarf that sounds like Ahnold XD

Hey, someone else who pays attention to the voice actors in these things....

Also, in regards to the current discussion, I'm thinkin' that they just recorded a bunch of voices, and then went back and named them, rather than specifically basing the voice work around those specific themes, which might explain the disparity between the sound of the voice and their names.

Additionally, like a couple people have mentioned above, it's possible you were expecting the voices to follow the theme a little too literally; like violent sounding more testy than outright berserk, as one might expect with a name like that.

They got Steve Blum to play Ohgren. Too bad he didn't also do one of the main character voice sets, too....

I agree with the TC. I can't help but to wonder if some of the voice files are in the wrong voice category...

The voices sound terrible. "Violent" especially sounds awful :(
