I'm not sure if they can pull it off in ME3. It seem strange to add a new mechanic to a system that was pretty robust. The expectations are high and the chances of the system being either broken or useless are also great.
Really strange design ideas. Adding melee weapons to a franchise that never really used it.
heh.

Yeah give Liara her own office on the Normandy and she's sound. Feron and the drone can handle the rest while on duty.

It would make more sense to scan the weapons and fabricate new models on the Normandy.javierabegazo wrote...

The only way I can see a melee system working in a third person shooter is a system like Gears of War.

@ 14, damnit I was so hoping sparing the Rachni was going to be a positive thing. If that turns around and bites my femshep in the posterior you can bet she is gonna hit them so hard with a rolled up newspaper.
Indoctrination, remember?

Any mention about scale of Reaper attack? Are they on Earth only?
Would you attack entire galaxy without a stronghold ?
Seriously, we will have to wait for more game info from bioware or w8 for the game.

Holy mother of god......melee weapon......
Am I the only one who finds the idea of melee weapons really dumb?
No that has Halo written all over it. Ick.
Glad to hear that.
I'm glad that melee recieves more attention, but to actually add melee weapons? That's just dumb. Even worse if we meet normal soldiers who run around with swords instead of guns.
Bullet from gun > sword.
Why the hell would they add swords?
There is no reason for Shepard, a N7 graduate, not to have some sort of CQC melee stuff, other than elbow of death.
Kasumi should have a hidden blade. Garrus should have a blade attached to his hip. Stuff like that. I'm all for melee weapons.
Infiltrator against Husks, going all HUNK. Invisible, get behind, knife to the back, through the chest.

heh.
Then, it's a badly designed system.
Why create a Cerberus soldier that is centered around CQB combat when the PC cant react in the same way? If I cant melee it, and I dont consider the "elbow hit" as true melee, the only thing I can do is backpedal and shoot at it.
It's bland and adds nothing to the experience.

I have to admit, I'm disappointed by TIM betrayal (unless it is a rogue cell/element?), it just seems so predictable. Otherwise, color me super excited for ME3.

My thought also.
Why add a "pick-up" mechanic when there seems to be no "true" inventory?

That's not true at all. Going by the design on this guy, it looks like he's the assassin from Retribution, and thus a possible boss fight
