I might goto jail for this but there are now High Quality scans of the GI article featuring MORE pictures. The scans are so high in quality that you can actually read the article text.

I am not going to post the link to the site, but if you do a bit of searching, you'll find them.

Edit: There is even a substantial hint for a Mass Effect MMO by Casey Hudson in the article. Again, I can't say exactly what he said, but he does make it clear that a ME MMO IS a REALLY viable option for Bioware to take post ME3.

;)

How delightful that vehicular exploration looks to be sidelined as it was in ME2. And no, I'm not being sarcastic.

Page?

Page 60. Its in a caption, Casey Hudson says: "We are treating space cinematics and space COMBAT differently and on a bigger scale than ever before."

He specifically splits up cinematics and combat. Seems promising.

Space combat is pretty much a no-brainer, seeing how the easy thing to do would be to not let the Reapers land on the planet you're trying to protect in the first place.

Sooo... one thing we're focusing a lot more on in ME3 is enemy composition. We have a handful of roles that enemies fit into. So, take husks for example - when fighting husks you generally don't want to be in cover. They're pretty mobile, and can do terrible things to you in close range. So, when engaging them you generally want to be able to move around a lot. They fall into our "cover buster" role.

On a note slightly related to cover busters, can you comment at all on Shepards new roll move? Is it something to help you get into cover fast or will Shepard generally be quicker and more agile while moving about the battlefield? Such as being able to duck and dive while fighting and not in cover. I always found the combat got slightly awkward with Shepard moving so slowly out of cover.

I hope the roll means (or included) we can jump from one cover to the next.

That is one aspect of GOW that I wish they included.

Dont think so. Thats Cerberus armour. (Brenon talked about a different cerberes soldier who has same colour scheme) Would Batarians really work with Cerberus.....

OK, I don't want to be a Debbie downer here, but if they really tackle space combat, that's big. That's an entirely new gameplay element to include.

I need to read the article before I comment further.

Bioware I know you guys are reading this. I have wish I'd love to see granted.

See a lot of my femsheps have a thing for Jacob, but I always found it hard to play with him because of the lack of armor, and weapons. It would be nice if he had full armor and an assault rifle. Please make that wish come true.

Also the armor problem was a big one. I role play with realism in mind and if my people aren't dressed properly for combat I don't use unless I have to. Miranda being the only exception because on the harder difficulties its hard to get by without her.

So please appropriate armor for everone and NO HIGH HEELS during combat!!!!! If you must have them in the game make if so its only on the ship when everyone is relaxed.

Can you comment on Enemy Tactics?

I'm heading out for coffee right now... but maybe later!

Sooo... one thing we're focusing a lot more on in ME3 is enemy composition. We have a handful of roles that enemies fit into. So, take husks for example - when fighting husks you generally don't want to be in cover. They're pretty mobile, and can do terrible things to you in close range. So, when engaging them you generally want to be able to move around a lot. They fall into our "cover buster" role.

In a given fight we might combine husks with a "suppressor" type of enemy. Suppressors try to keep you pinned in cover. With both of those types in one fight, as a player you have to decide which is the larger threat. Do you send your squadmates against the Husks? Do you try to find a position where you're more protected from the suppressor enemy and take on the Husks? Or do you run headlong towards the suppressor in the back, and try to take it down quickly while avoiding the Husks?

Obviously that's just an example, and normally a fight is comprised of more than just two different roles (additionally, "suppressor" / "cover buster" combinations are pretty damned hard to fight). So you might be able to see how just with interesting composition you can get extremely dynamic experiences that can vary significantly from attempt to attempt.

This is also not going into any of the synergistic elements of some of the enemies either... some enemies have ability sets that help or modify other enemies, making them potentially a *lot* tougher... if you let them...

Can companions use any weapon now as well? Please way yes.

Speaking of femShep, it would be nice to at least get a pic of her in any new armor at some point.  Not talking about trailers or ads, more in the line of what the DA team did w/ LadyHawke.

Thats what I was thinking too.

The article doesn't say anything more than whats been quoted already on the subject. Its just very briefly mentioned and something I think they will hold back on revealing if its included. Afterall its a new mechanic so is probably nowhere near finalised yet.

The details about the combat are looking mighty fine.

The larger battles and addition of multi level (ladders etc) look super promising for greater depth in the tactical combat. The idea of being able to order Garrus up to snipe from a higher vantage, then order our token Krogan squaddie to charge in their flanks makes me giddy.
