Thoughts on the article as a whole fchopin? It should take a while to read through the whole thing though :)

My thoughts are that it looks good so far and we could have a very good game if they can actually do all the things they say.

A few things it didn't mention was the heatsinks, will they change this or do we still have to go on all fours looking for bullets.

Also the only difference the soldier class has is that we can carry all weapons at the same time but it's not that different really is it? It's not much of an advantage over other classes.

I like that the companions from ME1 are back that's for sure even if they in the team for only one mission.

Anyone noticed that "glowing fist" thing on page 60? It doesn't look like a common tech power (no omni-tool) or a biotic power (not purple/blue). And since the class that was most likely used for the demo was a Soldier, I wonder if that is a new combat power? Looks like some kind of super-charged punch, judging by the position Shep is in.

They mentioned in the article that each class has a different melee move. Maybe the adept or vanguard has some kind of biotic melee.

Each class has specific abilities just like before.

Alright guys, page 55!!

Does anyone wonder if that's a......dun dun dun female Batarian?
I mean, in all likely hood, probably not, I mean why would Cerberus recruit a batarian.....unless she was a skilled assassin...?

Look at the 4 red eyes on the helmet..

Thoughts?

Interesting. Maybe that will be the only LI from who you want to keep the helmet on. ;)

Seriously, though. It would be nice to see some female variants of some races.

I think that in this picture the lights don't match the position of the eyes. Other helmets in the article appear to have small holes at the locations of the lights.

At first glance I thought the glowing fist was an omni tool but I'm not really sure what it is. Could be biotics but they're usually glowing blue.

Well to begin with the Soldier has the ability of the true weapons master to carry all weapons that cover all different types of ranges suited for different situations, and has, I assume atleast Adrenaline Rush and Concussive Blast are in, but i'm sure that they're giving a great many of the powers a good make-over, especially considering that each power will have multiple evolution paths

why did i just spend a veritable 3 hours reading every post in this thread? just to post an inane comment about the illusive man?

um yeah. probably of little interest (and I haven't read ME:Evolution yet - waiting for the final one to bulk buy - so if i'm wrong don't tell me what happens xD).. but our good friend TIM totally has saren eyes, which means reaper eyes.. seems to like reaper tech (EDI, that poor guy in the books and possibly shepard's 'upgrades', if they retcon it really hard). TIM is also fanatical about saving humanity 'at any cost', or at least his vision of it, and always seemed to know a bit tooooo much in ME2. so. it is quite possible that his change of heart could not be his choice. he could even turn out to be a 'tragic figure' like saren.. meh..

MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY, far too psyched to think about anything that isn't mass effect. that article made my year

QFT. No railroading means I can weep with joy.

Also: Decisions made in previouse ME games will have an effect on what ending you are able to get, presumably with bad decisions leading to bad endings.

F*cking.

Woot.

Now that the mods are back one should think it would be possible to use heatsink mods. But I am afraid the game is too much leaning to the shooters fans to remove the silly clips. Appearantly it is cool to press a reload button.

I just hope some of the Paragon choices bite you in the ass, would give a nice sense of moral ambiguity very much lacking in Mass Effect.

They could just add a cooldown to the weapons and give the player a choice to either pop the heatsink or let it cool off.

I've seen many suggestions about similar stuff in other threads, and I'd really like to see something come out of it.

I don't think that it's so much "cool to press a reload button" as it's really lame to sit there with all your weapons equipped being too hot to use.

Now you might say, well at later levels this won't be a problem, but the point is, it's a bit lame to be able to continuously fire and have no consequences whatsoever. And why should I have to wait to later levels just to feel that the gun combat is balanced?

As much as I hate the retcon, it's more balanced and fun across the board to me

Moral ambiguity? Why, whatever do you mean?

I think the choice to save the rachni can come back and bite you in the ass, as shown with what species that are...huskified, for the lack of a better word.

I also have a lot of Shepards. For me it would be great to see which character did what. It also allows me to check if I forgot some important decision. If so the game generator will pause and prompt me. I think that is great. :)

That is great for you, if you want to sit through a 20 - 30 minute comic EVERYTIME you start a new game with a save import then that is just fine I have no problem with that.  I on the other hand will not want to sit through a comic retelling me the story of a game I have spent nearly 4 years enjoying everytime I want to play a new game of Mass Effect 3.

All I require is a "you did this and this and this" on a summary screen so then I can dive right into Mass Effect 3.  As I said I have no problem with the comic.  I think the comic is a fantastic idea, I do have a problem with the comic being made mandatory for those that do not need the thing.  So all I am asking is that the devs ensure that those importing a save game are given the option of skipping the thing completely so we can get on with playing Mass Effect 3.

Anyway I am going to shut up about the issue, I don't want to put any downers on what we have read so far.  Hopefully Bioware will realise that a lot of people are not going to want to sit through the comic everytime they play the game and give us the option to skip it.

As long as we have a fair amount of clips with us i am fine with this but i don't like going around looking for clips while everyone else doesn't.

I don't agree. At all. Hehe. It's not that your weapon will be totally useless. You have to be careful. And if you are not then it overheats. Just don't shoot like a mad man. In the current situation it is worse. If you need to shoot a lot and you run out of ammo you cannot fire at all and you have to leave cover to get new ammo. Erm. Clips. That is much of a bigger problem. The old weapons would simply allow you to wait. You are painting a picture that doesn't resemble my experience, sir. Ghehe. ;)

Well, well well. Now this is the Mass Effct I always wanted.

As one of the few who were disapponted with ME2 I must say everything sounds great.

My only peeve is Ashley's look, pleash te tell me that's not what she fights in Bioware. She is a soldier through and through, she wouldn't be caught dead on the frontlines with that outfit.

No high heels outside the ship. It just frustrates me to no end when I see people on my team dress up so inappropriate. We're on a battlefield for Christ's sake.

On page 64 of the Spectre manual it clearly states that women who also happen to be a LI of a Spectre must look sexy in combat. I don't think Ashley violated that rule. ;)

Very good game, nah. A potential game of the forever I would say, but I don't wanna lose my sanity thinking about it.  :P  I'm just hoping for the best and will go in a media blackout for the rest of the year. The Witcher 2, Arkham city, Portal 2, Mortal Kombat and numerous fighting game tournaments will carry me until the release of ME3.
