The roll seems unnecessary and I don't see how much benefit that could have unless it's cover to cover.
The ladder also seems like an excellent way to die. The ramps atleast served as cover sometimes. Either the ladders have to be covered from the front or they have to be out of the way to even be remotely usable.
I would love this but the way they're describing it is as a way of rolling away from rockets not cover to cover.
And the stairs will probably be used out of combat.
I think it is entirely appropriate to compare ME to the two pillars of the TPS genre (Gears of War and Uncharted) when it comes to pure TPS gameplay. While ME2 greatly improved the gameplay from the original, it was still not up to par with GeoW or U2 in terms of responsive controls, movement around the battlefield, and the extent with which combat can be performed around cover. It really sounds like Bioware wants to go head to head with these games in terms of the shooter mechanics, which is great news IMO.

Most of ME 1 and 2 had the player on the move in that they weren't fending off waves of enemies and really just getting through said enemies. The only times I can think of are the Collector ship and the Reaper ship from ME2.karatemanchan37 wrote...

The trick with climbing ladders and not dying is to do it while no one's shooting at you.
Or shoot them and then climb the ladder to take potshots at the reinforcements.
Ah, you sir, have a fine idea. Top notch, wot wot.
Or you can shoot them while you're on the ladder...right?
That would imply a blindfire mechanism. Which would be great as well.

Or you can play Vanguard and just Charge up there. Ladders are for lesser classes.
Lmao, I can't wait for ME3

And Infiltrators could just cloak.Someone With Mass wrote...
Sentinels could just fire up the good ol' Tech Armor and climb up.
It's the Adepts, Engineers and Soldiers which will have to get crafty

Engineers will summon their drone, get on top of it, and piggy back ride it up the stairs.
Adepts and Soldiers are still screwed though.

What sort of multiple power evolution extended skill trees can we expect to find in ME3?

I'd really like if we can evolve Inferno Ammo to something that's similar to the high explosive rounds in ME1, because those were awesome. Have to be a bit nerfed for gameplay's sake, though.
Or if Incinerate can be evolved into a flamethrower.
Pull with Vanguard could be evolved so you lift the enemies and then make them use Charge in a special way to smash them into other enemies.

Guess I have in mind for some skills:
Adrenaline Rush: Red Dead Redemption's Dead Eye Level 3? Alpha Protocol's chainshot, minus the bad interface issues? Longer sprint duration?
Tactical Cloak: Splinter Cell Conviction's "Last Known Position" hologram?
Ammo powers: Ultimate damage?
Tech Armor: More damage when armor is destroyed? Larger shield HP?
Incinerate: ultimate damage
Overload: Ultimate damage

As an example, in the GoW games some battles require you fight to make creative use of cover in order not to get mowed down, while others reward a more aggressive style of play more reminiscent of FPS combat.

How about a time dilation? Or an explosive Warp bomb-like effect if you charge an enemy who has a biotic Barrier?JamieCOTC wrote...
Vanguard power suggestion w/ Charge. Heavy Charge repels enemies pretty good, but what about explosive charge that does a moderate amount of damage or keeps the the enemy down for a few more seconds. Just a suggestion.
But yeah, a special vanguard skill sounds awesome.

Maybe the damage taken while scaling a ladder would be minor than in normal casesAlphaJarmel wrote...
They're implying the ladders will be used to get to higher vantage points which helps to give a sense of verticality to the game. Which is good but it's also a great way of getting killed especially on the higher difficulties. If the ladders have no cover then they're going to be useless but if the front is covered then it should be fine. I can't imagine trying to get up a ladder in Insanity. My shields would be gone before I get halfway up.El_Chala_Legalizado wrote...
