Sooo... one thing we're focusing a lot more on in ME3 is enemy composition. We have a handful of roles that enemies fit into. So, take husks for example - when fighting husks you generally don't want to be in cover. They're pretty mobile, and can do terrible things to you in close range. So, when engaging them you generally want to be able to move around a lot. They fall into our "cover buster" role.
In a given fight we might combine husks with a "suppressor" type of enemy. Suppressors try to keep you pinned in cover. With both of those types in one fight, as a player you have to decide which is the larger threat. Do you send your squadmates against the Husks? Do you try to find a position where you're more protected from the suppressor enemy and take on the Husks? Or do you run headlong towards the suppressor in the back, and try to take it down quickly while avoiding the Husks?
Speaking of Husks, Brenon... can you tell us if you're doing anything different with them this time around? Because, to be brutally honest, I
hate the things. I really do. And I don't mean I hate them in that "love to hate 'em!" way either.
In both previous Mass Effect games I found them to be the worst enemies. They're just frustrating and annoying, and to be honest I was hoping not to be seeing too much of them again in ME3, only to find out that not only do they appear to be back, but more than ever and with even more types. The article had a quote where Casey said you guys wanted to make the game more challenging, but in a fun way and not just frustratingly hard.
So, if you can answer, I'm really curious to know if steps have been taken to thus make Husks not just a frustrating annoyance? Even if you can't be specific, I'd
really like to know that I'm just not going to be constantly tormented again in ME3. Combat with Husks was just never fun at all, and very much the opposite.
