Vanguard power suggestion w/ Charge. Heavy Charge repels enemies pretty good, but what about explosive charge that does a moderate amount of damage or keeps the the enemy down for a few more seconds. Just a suggestion.

But yeah, a special vanguard skill sounds awesome.

How about a time dilation? Or an explosive Warp bomb-like effect if you charge an enemy who has a biotic Barrier?

I was thinking a charge where ANYONE in the trail of your Charge gets knocked down but only the person you charged to takes damage. Useful no? Maybe overpowered.

I hate to be rude, could someone point me towards a clarification of point 11 in the original post. Brain's not working right, and can't understand its meaning.

Species Loyalty cannot only get obtained via Quests

It means that doing a simple quest won't get you the loyalty of an entire race. Unlike Mass Effect 2 where one mission and you had Miranda loyal or Jack loyal. If there is a chance that dispite what ever you do the certain race decides to not help well, frankly, that sounds awesome.

From the way it's written, it means that there is a "loyalty mission" for rallying races to your fight against the Reapers, but you might have to do more than that.

Quick question: does anyone know if there will be blind fire in ME3?

After reading the scans I didn't see any mention. I hope not though. It's not supposed to a shooter only spraying bullets. Being able to jump around cover and have ladders is good enough.

The more that I think about it the more I realize that 16 feels hinky to me

in ME3, you will start off with most of your powers from ME2, that will be able to evolve multiple times

And its the first part that gets me, IMO combat classes are in need of a major rehaul i.e. ditch ammo powers (hated them in ME2 will probably hate them if included in ME3) and give combat classes proper powers. And while ammo mods may make a return if they are already a power that can be further evolved that doesn't seem likely.

The ONE thing I'd like for my Vanguards is the ability to use Charge as a means of attack AND a means of mobility, the way Tela Vasir can. Ofcourse you'd want to Charge into an enemy most of the time, but I'd be stoked if I can Charge into a wall for instance to reposition myself on the battlefield. I'd love zipping aroung the battlefield like that in between up close and personal behind kickings :)

Although it's hard to tell from the scans..and no knowing what platform it was being played on...

.it looks promising that depth of field shadow issues have been resolved! JOY!

Sooo... one thing we're focusing a lot more on in ME3 is enemy composition. We have a handful of roles that enemies fit into. So, take husks for example - when fighting husks you generally don't want to be in cover. They're pretty mobile, and can do terrible things to you in close range. So, when engaging them you generally want to be able to move around a lot. They fall into our "cover buster" role.

In a given fight we might combine husks with a "suppressor" type of enemy. Suppressors try to keep you pinned in cover. With both of those types in one fight, as a player you have to decide which is the larger threat. Do you send your squadmates against the Husks? Do you try to find a position where you're more protected from the suppressor enemy and take on the Husks? Or do you run headlong towards the suppressor in the back, and try to take it down quickly while avoiding the Husks?

Speaking of Husks, Brenon... can you tell us if you're doing anything different with them this time around? Because, to be brutally honest, I hate the things. I really do. And I don't mean I hate them in that "love to hate 'em!" way either.

In both previous Mass Effect games I found them to be the worst enemies. They're just frustrating and annoying, and to be honest I was hoping not to be seeing too much of them again in ME3, only to find out that not only do they appear to be back, but more than ever and with even more types. The article had a quote where Casey said you guys wanted to make the game more challenging, but in a fun way and not just frustratingly hard.

So, if you can answer, I'm really curious to know if steps have been taken to thus make Husks not just a frustrating annoyance? Even if you can't be specific, I'd really like to know that I'm just not going to be constantly tormented again in ME3. Combat with Husks was just never fun at all, and very much the opposite.

This is probably the tiniest, tiniest, most inconsequential thing ever, but... does it looks to anyone else like the LEDs on Shep's armour are now red, not blue? You know, the bits on the back, where the weapons stow?

I only ask, because I remember a thread from, oooh, ages ago, where someone suggested being able to change the colour of the lights, which is a tiny thing, but kinda cool, and wondered if that HAD been done?

Curious you said that. I thought husks were not bad especially when compared to immunity loving krogans in me1 or scions/praetorian in me2. I will say this: don't get your hopes up with the husk fights getting easier as Game Informer did say it would be harder in me3.

Cryo blaster is your friend when it comes to husks.

Re: Husks

It largely depends on the class for me, but I'm just not a big fan of these swarms of enemies that run at you and can swarm you when there's really no proper form of melee and the game is designed around being a cover-based shooter combat wise. About the only enemy I personally hated more than Husks was Praetorians, and I'd probably even drop them below Husks because they were quite rare at least. Husks are just annoying and not fun, IMO. Even when it's not hard to fight them it's just never fun to do so (with the possible exception of bowling a whole pile of them over with a Shockwave... that IS kind of fun).

Okay, I do kinda see where you're coming from, there, since I loathed fighting geth hoppers in ME1...

The one thing that made fighting husks more fun in ME2 than in ME1 was that on Insanity, in ME1 they were just damage sponges. In ME2, on insanity, once their protection wore off, I could just do any kind of biotic attack and they'd fall to pieces. Like it should be :)

I miss the hoppers :(

But they really only served to overheat weapons as I recall....

Aye, it has to be said that it's mainly because I couldn't shoot straight, but my point still stands!

Stalkers and Sappers weren't all that better either (i.e. Radio jamming if Geth Snipers/Rocket Roopers are not present.)
