Hawke is teh awesum.
No, but seriously - I don't hate Hawke. I just don't think Hawke was important. And I also think Hawk's "story", such as it was, is over with the conclusion of DA2.
Yes, those are plot issues or story issues, not Hawke issues . . . .but why would I want to keep playing a character that wasn't particularly important, and who's story is over? I don't.

I have never liked the protagonist of Bioware games, but at least Hawke seemed to be consistent in his dialogue, that said i really hate his sarcastic dialogue, it makes him sound like a complete smug ****.
Sarcastic Hawke was, coincidentally, my favorite.

Just my opinion. I am keeping faith in the downloadable content.

I liked my warden too, just not close to the same level.

Yeah there's alot of Hawke hate, But I love him myself. My WittyHawke is probably my favorite protagonist of all time. It was refreshing to be the funniest character in a game this time around and not relying purely on your companions to fill that role. I really felt connected to him.

That's exactly why I liked the sarcastic Hawke. I think he was actually the most entertaining character in the game, honestly.

This, entirely this. I don't really see how the warden is any more play defined than Hawke in any case. I mean you still had a family and the background that entails and even more you're thrust in the Wardens, an organization you might hate (I do). Hawke's motivations are just as complex and varied as the warden's, and in either case my sarcastic **** with a heart of gold mage is by far my favorite character ever. As much as I love Leliana and her romance, I want more Hawke.Cutlass Jack wrote...

As well a big thing is that the Warden's personality felt too much like Sheppard's, in that you are either Space/Fereldon Jesus or an evil bastard. Hawke seems more nuanced and I appreciate that.

This.
Plus even if you disagree with that, Hawke still wins. Why? Because Mircle of Sound made a tribute to Hawke and not the Warden.

I like female Hawke better than male however. Nicholas Boulton does all right voice acting but sometimes his lines feel...mechanic or forced. Jo Wyatt does a better jobb imo.

No Hawke hate, but not a very interesting character. I have zero interest in Hawke, Hawke's story or Hawke's family post Dragon Age 2. It's probably because Hawke's story and Hawke's relationship with others is poorly executed in Dragon Age 2.
That sums it up nicely.
I'm not per se against a voiced character, I love my Shepard just fine. Hawke however is the most boring/bland character I have encountered in a long time. I have zero interest in him/her. It is really that easy.

However, I take issue with not liking Hawke because he/she does nothing. That's not the point. Hawke is one of those individuals that events just happen around. A Rand al'Thor type, perhaps. There were thousands of refugees fleeing Ferelden for the Free Marches. Flemeth singled him out. If he were not around, Varric and Bartrand would have never gotten into the Deep Roads, Isabela would never have retaken the Relic. More than likely, The Qunari would have crushed Kirkwall. The list goes on. Hawke's presence is the important factor.

I can't remember the occasion, but i remember some conversation where a character said something, I thought how I would reply to them, hit the sarcastic spot, and Hawke says what i was thinking to the letter
