Y'know one of the things I miss from the first game...

Anyway, I liked the little blurb you got with the items as I found it immersive (to use a tired phrase) and often humorous. I can't think of any specific ones except the descriptions for the items Dog (or in my case, Baxter) would bring for you. I also remembered that none of my party members were too fussy about receiving dog drool covered presents.
As for more serious items, such as weapons, their description would sometimes make them more important to my Warden. A nice little line or two about how ancient/powerful looking a staff is will have me geekily foaming at the mouth.
Are any of you lot as easily impressed by item descriptions? Do you miss them? Or did you think they are a waste of time?

The rest of the description seems to have been cut.

I'm just going to go ahead and blame consoles. Which is not blaming people who use them, but rather the increased 'streamlining' of interfaces for people who use controllers. I'll also blame the tighter deadline and it being an easy corner to cut.

They were boring. I never read them. Waste of time. I'm glad they scrapped that junk. I'd rather have fewer descriptions that mean something that lots of descriptions that are useless.

Nope they're missing. And they should be there. I enjoyed reading them, even if the item was essentially useless.

I sort of see what you're saying. If they are doing it for that reason I'd like them to push off; I play my games on consoles because at least on a console you don't have to worry about meeting system specs or having to adjust graphics to be able to play smoothly. I just don't have the money to keep up with the PC crowd.

The descriptions for the powerful (unique) weapons and armors is actually still in the game. Those can be found in the codex.

I know they are and I'm not talking about them. I just can't think of another way to say blurb. It's nice that they've still kept with the item codex entries, though it's not enough for me.

I liked them. It's a shame they are

Oh yeah! That one is cute. :3

Can't see how having fewer buttons on a console controller equates to less text in a game, but that's an argument I'm not getting into ^^
Lets just hope DA3 gets a longer developement time and we see the return of features such as this

"Amulet" "Enchanted Amulet" "XXX Amulet" etc etc.
"Helmet" "Superior Helmet"
All with different stats and things... How unoriginal.

Its obvious bioware did so much more important stuff with that saved time. Right?

Like that book tome of the slumbering elders that 'contains a rare magic' It's in my chest with 'fell grimiore' hoping to trade with a tevinter later. otherwise why would we have the option to take it?Mavkiel wrote...
You mean you don't like a whole class of items called junk to ignore? Or rings all named ring, with varied stats so you have to go through each and every one to determine its actual value? Or getting quest rewards that are described as priceless yet are labeled as junk, and sell for under a gold?
Wishing on a star....*
Actually, wanting to hang onto useless Items that Have a cool name rather than taking a stat increase or coin shows how much difference a description/name can mean to Roleplay.

"Sacred Heart" amulet from Alistair, yay! Wait...it's basically the same as the other amulets? And no codex entry? Nothing at ALL to say what it looks like? Just a name? Oh...ok, that's far less cool. *sells to next merchant*
I remember wearing the Reflection amulet in DAO just because of the item description, because the healing boost certainly didn't work. But there are gamers who play for the action who don't stop to smell the sprig of Andraste's Grace, and gamers who play for the cool details...

I was the same with Reflection. It took place of the Warden's Oath around my Cousland's neck! However, I never got rid of the latter.
As for the idea that maybe they left the descriptions out for the console users... we're not all drooling idiots, so please don't treat us as such, Bioware.
