They probably couldn't practically show child killing even if they wanted to due to ratings considerations in some countries.

Don't they release different versions for those countries anyway?

That said, it's information that could be given to the player without a graphic cutscene. When Orsino pleads for the Champion's help, 'But there are children in the Circle! Some as young as six!' would be very effective.

...bottom line; since you CAN allow some mages to live despite the order; I would assume that childeren would be given a pass on execution as well.

Actually that's contrary to the letter of the Right of Annulment and if you don't actively try to contradict Meridith, the Templars kill them.  Bottom line, if you aren't there the Templars kill everyone, men, women, and children.  Even those they capture are made tranquil which honestly isn't an improvement.

Implied?

The CE can flat out say it.

If you say so.

...What exactly isn't clear about the "I killed a noble for raping my cousin." dialogue choice?

Given that I've already agreed with you, I suspect nothing I could say would lead to anything but you continuing to argue.

You...are a very confusing person you know that?

Yes. I mean ... probably.

Ugh. They should've put some child killing in. They're cool with showing nearly every mage as a loon and utterly insane yet we can't see just what the templars are willing to do to the circle? Lame.

DAO had the excuse that the templars were mostly outside and you needed to leave before the finished the rite. DA2 had none.

The reason is clear enough.  The Devs want you to side/sympathize with the Templars because apparently too many people like the mages in DAO.  If they showed Templars doing what they really do on screen, no one would support the Templars at all.  Killing children on screen is tends to alienate people away from you real fast.

Same reason we're never "treated" to a scene of Alrik having his way with one of the soulless husks?

But yeah, that's pretty much it.  I think the entire reason templars have any support is because we SEE blood mages killing people or stitching together patchwork zombies, but we rarely SEE the templars crimes.  And when we do, it's not the nastiest stuff.

You might not disagree with that but most gamers would be far more uncomfortable having to kill children in the Annulment.

Let them all play through Little Lamplight in Fallout 3 beforehand.
I guarantee you nobody will have a problem after that.

The Devs near as I can tell want you to back the Templars and sympathize with you (which is why the presenation of mages was so badly done and so one-sided in ActIII).  If the game made it explicit that backing the templars meant killing children, no one would back the Templars and apparently the Devs don't want that.

Exactly.

It didn't need to be shown. Just...acknowledged in some way.

Did Connor get the murderknife, or was his death off screen? I've never killed him.

By the by, if you do side with the Templars, essentially Hawke takes command... and there is one scene where you have the choice to allow some mages to live despite the "Right of Annullment" order from Meredith, and all she does is make a frowny face.

Later, when, you slap her frowny face around a bit... she explodes and the Templars all bow to Hawke... so at that point, I don't think anyone is questioning his decisions.

...bottom line; since you CAN allow some mages to live despite the order; I would assume that childeren would be given a pass on execution as well.

Gaider already addressed that during the Right of Annulment, any mages who are spared are forced to undergo the Rite of Tranquility.

Are they? I'll see it again in about an hour or so on my third play through; but if that is the case, then it was poorly communicated. Much respect for David Gaider, but regardless of what he says on the forums... if it doesn't make it into the game or landed on the cutting room floor somewhere along with auto-attack and much of the rest of the game... it didn't happen. Woulda, coulda, shoulda... but didn't.

Dunno.

That's true.

If I recall correctly it's death by murder knife, but you don't see the knife.

Tired of alimony payments?, growing tired of wasting your weekends on ungrateful magic using brats you never wanted?, pursuing a new lady who's a little put off by the whole kid thing? There is a solution, simply dial 0900 annulment and report suspected mass demon worship.

Pretty sure he turns into a desire demon just like the little girl turns into "Kitty" the desire demon if you kill her during Shale's quest.

That's a ****** poor reason.

We're lacking information that makes no sense to not be acknowledged. Orsino defintely should've tried to to use that to get Hawke on his side. It makes no sense that he didn't.

No, afterwards he's in human form and you can either kill him or have Isolde do it.

It makes me a horrible person but I laughed so hard at this.

And the Warden defintely can kill Conner in his human form(or let Isolde do it) it happens off screen but yeah...the Warden did it.

If memory serves he turns back after you defeat the demon, and Isolde runs in begging you to spare him. Pretty sure any actual stabbing happens offscreen.

[edit] I am apparently slow at typing.
