Maybe Shepard can't be gay because....

Alright so now to the topic at hand. I wondered if there was another reason as to why the LIs (beyond Liara) are not available for both genders, beyond the ones we as a comunity discussed. After typing a post on DA2 about the idea Hawke having kids. I reflect back to the subject as to why homosexaulity is more welcomed in DA and not so much in ME.
I pondered for a moment until I came to realize that maybe... just maybe... BW left the window open for Shepard to have kids. Liara's race is capable of producing regaurdless of who their sexual partner will be. Plus this ME3 will be Shepard's final adventure. So possibly one of the ideas the writers might have to end Shepard's journey is the "choice" to have kids. So if my theory is true, I can only assume that BW does not want to exclude the oppurtunity for all players for Shep to be a parent.
I just wanted to share this thought. I appologize in advance if anyone took offense to my opinion and crossing my fingers for no flame war.

If Shepard can't be gay (unless she's female and in a relationship with Kelly Chambers) because Bioware wants to end Mass Effect 3 with Shepard having children, then the idea of having a customizable character will go right out the window. What if your Shepard doesn't want a romance? What if you have a female Shepard who entered a relationship with Kelly? Is the story going to force your Shepard to have children? I highly doubt that.
If there's a reason why male Shepard can't be gay, it's not because Bioware plans to force him to have children. And if Bioware does have plans to allow Shepard to reproduce, it simply won't be an option for same-sex couples. Welcome to life.

Plus if they really wanted to show Shep with children, I'm sure adoption is still around and available for same-sex couples. Miranada can't have children, and Jack may not be able to either. So yeah.. children seem unlikely in the near future for Shepard.

Who are the LIs? Ashley, Liara, Kaidan, Tali, Miranda, Jack, Kelly, Thane, Jacob and Garrus. (Well, Samara and Morinth are sorta romances, just not full blown romances...)
Who can have children with Shep? Liara, Ashley, Kaidan, Jack, Kelly and Jacob.
Who can not have children with Shep? Garrus, Tali, Miranda and Thane.
So only 6/10 of the LIs can have children with Shep. Plus the fact that Shep might be unable to have kids because she/he died. Also, add the mods people do, to have F/F and M/M romance. Plus, some Sheps don't have romances. Thus, it's not the reason.

Tell that to Miranda's father. He managed it without even being in a couple at all. Also: the tank-bred krogan would like to have a word with you about this whole "cloning" thing too.

*sigh* I wish the Mass Effect team would take a David Gaider approach to things...
The romances in the game are not for "the straight male gamer". They're
for everyone. We have a lot of fans, many of whom are neither straight
nor male, and they deserve no less attention.
Wouldn't that be awesome if applied to Mass Effect? If male Shepard could be gay, too? And it wouldn't hurt the "main demographic" at all! Shepard could still be the heterosexual hero of their games, but gay in mine! Please, Bioware? Pretty, pretty please?

That excuse smacks me as the same "Mark Meer didn't want to record same-sex dialogue" nonsense. Not to mention, Shepard's likeness is variable!
FemSheps probably can't be gay (aside from Liara) because both genders have to get the same amount of content.
Kelly Chambers. So yes, FemSheps can have a same-sex love affair. It's highly suspect that male Shepard cannot do the same. <_<

I rather doubt that. He's just some model hired for a face scan, not some big name who can enforce restrictions on how his/her likeness is used.

He certainly didn't seem to mind being a rather camp, bisexual, elven prostitute in DA2. Or, you know, actually recording same-sex dialogue for ME1.

That is pure grade A 100% made up BS. And really easy to see through at that. It'd be like all those male celebrities that pose for Playgirl and are "surprised" to find out that the supermajority of it's readership is gay men. Many male models are perceived (unfairly and irrationally) as gay in the first place, if they really cared they wouldn't get into the business where homoerotic photo shoots are a guarantee.

Nothing gay about that no sir!

Exactly! Mark Meer actually recorded same-sex content for the first Mass Effect! Why do people forget this?

So, yeah, if anyone claims that same-sex content isn't included in Mass Effect because of Shepard's voice actors, likenesses, or... because of the possibility of Shepard's children.... is just wrong.

It's Bioware's flagship, they don't want anything that challenges anything so they play it safe. This would be excusable if they didn't add lesbians to the mix, then it just seems immature.
