It's simple, they've cured homosexuality by the time ME takes place. [/quote]

And why does homosexuality need a cure exactly?

Because normalcy is a lot better for human beings. Easier, and less mentally distressing.

I haven't read all the replies so I apologize if I'm repeating thoughts, but...this theory from the OP is quite possible if one limits the possibilities to ME1 "Shepchildren". I think that since ME1's LIs are strictly same race hetero relationships except for Liara who is technically a viable exception who does not preclude children, then the time-scale is convenient.

The VS (Virmire Survivor, I state it because that abbreviation drove me nuts for a while trying to read these forums) and /or Liara are conveniently held out of the story through the second installment and have been confirmed to be in ME3, so the OP's premise could be possible within those bounds. I'm not saying I think this is likely, but it is entirely possible within the limitations of ME1 decisions, which it has been hinted will become significant.

Who cares? If you want to be able to romance whoever you want go play DA2, just because one series does it doesn't mean others should if the devs don't want to. If this is a big issue to you then why did you play the first 2 ME games?

The ignorance in everything you've posted is astounding.

Really? My Shepard is gay. He hasn't stated anything to prove the contrary.

Good for you doesn't mean it will be in the game. If they didn't put it in the 1st 2 why would they put it in the 3rd? And besides obviously it's not a big deal if it didn't stop you from playing the game.

They did put it in the first one, they just decided to lock it for some incomprehensable reason. And it was a big deal, I finished 1 disappointed and finished 2 even more disappointed. It didn't stop me buying the games obviously, however it was BioWare's reputation that caused me to buy the games in the first place. And they haven't shyed away from including inclusive content before.

Oh.. and why wouldn't they put it in the third one?

Read the bolded on my previous post. If your disappointed because they didn't have gay romances then why buy ME3 I was disappoined that DA2 made all romances bi (not going to get into so please don't ask) but that really didn't bother me. Not all games will have what you want you just got to accept it. And my personal opinion is there shouldn't be any romances in ME3 unless they are from the previous games although I wouldn't object if they included them. Edit:forgot to bold Image IPB/fixed it

I don't know how anyone can be disappointed that they decided to give everyone an option in that game (but ok if you don't want to get in to it).

The point is, and I've said this many times, no the romances aren't the point of the game, it's not a dating sim. However they attach you to your character. My character and me personally are missing part of the story, because it's supposedly not my character. All I want is 1 gay option, I don't care if it's Kaiden, if it's some new guy you get in ME 3, I just want to be able to play that particular side of the storyline. And this is the case for alot of people.

But hey, us gays, we're just sex fiends and don't feel love or romance. Why should we be included?

And if you're against romances in general (that haven't already begun) surely that's another thread, not a gay romance thread.

THIS is an approximation of the speech a Gay Renegade Shepard will give when he finally comes out to his crew. And also their reaction.

But seriously, I find that it's the fact that topics like this even existing that causes BW & EA's marketing departments to freak out like kittens chasing a laser pointer. If people are getting into arguments on their own fansite over this issue, the world at large has a much greater chance of blowing this into a big deal doesn't it?

And look at how toned down the sexuality got in ME2 compared to ME1. They won't even show a post coital Shepard/LI in bed without their shirts on and covered up. Nope, it's that weird video game thing of always being completely clothed!

Also . . . I think I no longer care. I'm with Tycho from Penny Arcade on this one at this point. The problem isn't gay vs.straight. It's weird space fetish vs everyone else.

Why can't I mate with a non-gendered Collector by jumping into their cloned eggvats? Why can't I writhe in the Rachni Queen's tube? Where's the option to impalnt enough cybernetics to "body meld" into the Geth collective with LEgion and its pals? Where's my wild night in the Noveria penthouse sweet with two lovely Vlous Ladies and a Hanar, with shepard wearing nothing but a smile beneath his breather?

THESE are the options that BioWare is truly missing out on.

Also . . . this is a rough approximation of why Mordin/Femshep romance was not an option.

Maybe they've cured homosexuality in humans? I know Gavorn is gay, but I don't know if I've seen many gay men in the ME universe.

But yeah, my guess is that it's been cured. We live for 150 years now apparently, so why not cure homosexuality?

What...

DAMMIT U VOLUS! Do u not realise how offensive that is!? Image IPB

And to whoever said the genetic engineering comment, that is VERY RARE. Miranda is one of the few to be done so. And if anyone was to be genetically engineered they would be bi - thus miranda would be bi maybe.

LOL way to be ultra dramatic, if they include it be happy but don't whine if it's not exactly as you wanted it, If they don't include it don't be surprised since it wasn't included in the released version of ME1 or 2. You can whine about it all you want but if that's not the direction they want to go and this really bothers you then perhaps you should stick to DA and not get ME3. Also I have nothing against romances in video games I just think fighting the reapers (since they should arrive) should be the priority not getting laid.

He is too awesome to be judged and locked in a closet Image IPB
Now just waiting for kaidan to break out the closet... but i think bioware placed a wooden plank between the door handles.

This thread might get locked down soon (it's already derailing into some pretty weird and uncomfortable areas), but while it's open I might suggest the debate be continued over at the Fight for the Love thread if anyone feels that way inclined.

It has a nifty FAQ that tries to articulate what more diverse romance options would look like and play like.

These threads are always dangerous territory, if only because both supporters and opponents of the proposal let their (often strong) personal views venture into the discussion. Anyho, carry on!
