WRONG! Miranda's DNA is composed of her father's and of other assorted females he chose. You should listen more closely to the dialog, you fail at *that*.

What about that? It's still unisexual, just with a man's face.

Are you actually using this as an arugment?

The difference is that Asari don't have masculine features. They're curvy and feminine by every definition. They're not unisex. Also, bewbs.

Well, Pwener, DAO didn't get much flak for it, so your argument is pretty much invalid.

My point about Liara was this: BOOBIES.

Well played, specially for the boobies. But it'd be the same case if it was a dick instead. As for DA, it's practically an unknown game. I wouldn't even know it existed if I hadn't joined the forums. It would be like picking a fight with GTA's gay Tony. Nobody cares, and people pick the new stuff that grabs quick interest. Also, DA's sex scenes sucked.

*snip*

That crude photoshop job might be relevant if only it had anything whatsoever to do with how the asari are actually depicted or what the Codex says about them:  "An all-female race, the asari reproduce through a form of parthenogenesis."

Liara's a girl.  End of story.

I don't think Miranda ever specifies that the other half of the DNA came from women. For all we know, it could have come from another man.

Miranda chastises her father for so "egotistical" that he used only his own DNA to create her. He modified his own genomes--she didn't have any "mother" DNA at all!

But, back to the topic at hand.... In the future Shepard lives in, there would be lots of ways for Shepard to obtain a child, if he or she wished to. Restricting same-sex content from male Shepards (again, female Shepards have KElly Chambers, a human female) on the argument that Shepard is supposed to have a kid at the end of the series is just flawed.

Before I start. I need to point out that I'm straight and have nothing against ones right on who one choose to be with in the privacy of their own homes. There was a time when I questioned my sexuality, after having a long talk with my best friend (whose like a brother to me) who happens to be gay. I came to realize I'm a heterosexual.

Alright so now to the topic at hand. I wondered if there was another reason as to why the LIs (beyond Liara) are not available for both genders, beyond the ones we as a comunity discussed. After typing a post on DA2 about the idea Hawke having kids. I reflect back to the subject as to why homosexaulity is more welcomed in DA and not so much in ME.

I pondered for a moment until I came to realize that maybe... just maybe... BW left the window open for Shepard to have kids. Liara's race is capable of producing regaurdless of who their sexual partner will be. Plus this ME3 will be Shepard's final adventure. So possibly one of the ideas the writers might have to end Shepard's journey is the "choice" to have kids. So if my theory is true, I can only assume that BW does not want to exclude the oppurtunity for all players for Shep to be a parent.

I just wanted to share this thought. I appologize in advance if anyone took offense to my opinion and crossing my fingers for no flame war.

so you dont want same sex romances because your straight? im not gay myself but that is probably by far the most bizzare thing i have heard. thats like me saying we should  not have fat people in there because im scrawny and thin

Way to steal Cheez's statement, good for you. My point is, that they're fan service of the highest degree. Have you seen the Evolution comic with the female Turian? She looks just like a male Turian. The exterior doesn't matter, it what's in the inside. They are treated as females because society views them as females. I studied this in my psychology classes, don't go against it or I'll make you look like a fool, I won the same argument a few weeks ago.

Not quite accurate  Her DNA is almost entirely her father's.  A single X-chromosome is composed of some genes from various women, with the majority being made-up by his genetic material.

Society views them as females because they look like and act like females. It's their sex and their gender role by human perception. They have everything that makes a woman a woman by our perception.

If you're attracted to Asari, you're attracted to women.

didymos@: She still has femal DNA, that's what I wanted to pint out. He said she didn't.

Cheez@: That's your counter attack? Point is, ME was easir to pick on against then some game that takes place during the time where prostitution ran rampant and everyone had sex with everyone. It's all about the culture the game is set in.

By biological definition as well, the asari are female: google "parthenogenesis".  It ain't just the fact that they look like human women.

Well, everything else was pretty much bullsh*t.  I just pointed out that one of your claims was incorrect.

Anyway, ME is only an issue because Fox freaked out.  And only the Tea Party takes Fox seriously anymore.

Your the first guy here to finally understand it. yes, we view them as female, yet they are not. That's why lesbian Shepards (most of them I assume) went to romance her.... him..... her? Wathever.

There is no such thing as "female" DNA.  If you have two X chromosomes, no matter the source, you're a female.  Miranda's dad could have just had two copies of his X chromosome put into her genome, and she'd still be "all girl".  For that matter, he could have cobbled together a second X using genes donated from other men. Same result: baby girl.

Exactly, it was *only* FOX. Odds are that others would have taken interest in bashing BW/ME if it had featured homosexual relationships. I'll always see Kaidan as a closet case who is secretly in love with my Shepard though. He really needs to get out of that closet. as for Kelly, I reall don't get why they included her as an option for emshep. Test case for ME3?

We started this argument with you saying Liara doesn't count as a woman.

I'm saying to a human she does, regardless of what you think of her true gender, thus she is basically a F/F romance.

Not exactly.....

You, "the player", views your Shepard romancing Liara as evidence of her being gay, but that's not how BW and the game sees it like. You define Shepard, but not make up who he/she is. The game sees her as a monosexual race, being neither male or female.

If that were the case, then why can't you get the hots for Miranda or Ashley?

Because they're straight.

Shepard is interested in women if she romances Liara. That's how humans view Asari. Thus she can be a lesbian.

And I do make up who Shepard is. There is plenty to define about him/her.
