I just bought this game, is it?

I came on the forums to find alot of people still pissed off about issues the game has even after, 3 patches? It has still to be fixed.
Is this game even worth buying as it's sounds awful, Audio sync issues are the main complaint for me and im not to impressed with textures not loading in on the DLC, not that i'll buy it if the game runs like crap.
So, have i just wasted money? should i cancel my order before they send it? Or should i play it straight as is, without DL'ing the patches?

My experience did not differ much on either patch though. Anyway, in at least 90-100 hours of ME2 on ps3, I've froze 1 time and glitched 2, not TOO bad.
One time it froze at a loading screen, I turned my ps3 on and off and since then, I have had 0 freezes.
However, it has happened to me twice where my character will just literally float in the air, and i can only turn but not move anywhere or get back down to ground level. I've only had to revert back to the last auto save, so it wasn't catastrophic.
It's by no means unplayable, and nothing game breaking. It's still a highly enjoyable game + the ps3 has added value since it comes with shadow broker, overlord, and Kasumi. As for the texture loading, I haven't had any issues with this.

Game breaking genesis glitch doesn't sound good.
I don't have an xbox or a gaming PC and i just bought it for ps3. A couple of conflicting views, some say it's fine to play, others say it's a terrible port, one game breaking glitch- is it really bad?

Remember, this is the internet, specifically a technical issues section. MANY folks like to blow things out of proportion. Are there serious patch issues? Yes. Definitely. Does that render this a crap port? Hardly. Are there still issues which do need to be addressed? Yes. And as far as we are allowed to be told, Bioware is doing what it can to address them.
So what can we do besides accurately report the issues and such? Answer: chill out.

>_> Every game is wasted money. There are only a few games which you will play long-term. The rest just gets boring after playing the single-player once, twice or perhaps three or four times if it's just good. But really, you'll take a LONG break and let the box dust for a LONG time until you feel like playing them again.

...unfortunate to hear of these glitches. I'm in the same boat. I got the game for a good price on Amazon goldbox, not knowing there were so many glitches, as most editorial review sites didn't mention little, to none of them. *sigh, oh well.
Have you played the game yet? If you haven't you should still play maybe play unpatched until you hit frequent bugs/glitch then patch it. I got the game from Amazon as well so far so good been playing unpatched, hit on a few seconds freezes nothing serious and once a slowdown frame rate which I just restarted my mission and haven't seen another one since. On my second run now pretty fun game I'm enjoying it.

I patched the game prior to knowing of the glitches. I have started playing, and I've recruited Kasumi and Mordin thus far, and have encountered many voice cutoffs and audio sync issues already. The game is playable, though it's a bit of a turn-off to play.. it's like watching a badly synched b-movie or something.

It doesn't really matter if you play it patched or unpatched, it's broken either way.

Doesn't change the fact that this is a crap port. There's a lot of other issues that I've experienced that never get mentioned here. For instance the collsion detection is all over the place in this game, your teammates are flying above the ground, you get stuck on invisible walls, the overlord dlc is horrible in this respect, when your driving the hammerhead you can fall through the floor. There's glitches during conversations, when you talk to Chakwas after drinking brandy with her, you regain control of your character even though you shouldn't because the conversation is still going, then the chair she's sitting on gets turned around so now Chakwas is sitting in midair. There's tons of glitches like this.
Well most of those issues are present on the other versions too. I've personally experienced all of those on PC, except falling through the map in the Hammerhead. Also I haven't had much of those problems you mentioned in the Overlord DLC, but they are all over the game anyway. Hell, a good chunk of my deaths comes from Shep getting stuck in the frakkin' ceiling or something. Yes, ceiling. Way up in the air. That happens too, occasionally.
So not all of the issues are from bad porting. Some of those problems have been around since ME1.

The patch is also supposed to retroactively fix in-progress games, which if true is pretty impressive.

The pc version had much much much less collission detection issues than the ps3 version. I'm playing the pc version right now and believe me it is nowhere near as the ps3 version. The ps3 version's bugs are really annoying and too many of them. Just play both versions as vanguard and you'll realize the difference in no time.

The pc version is fantastic by the way and I have a mediocre pc. I wasn't expecting the ps3 version to be as good as the pc version (or even the xbox version), but the ps3 version is too buggy to be considered even as a mediocre port. It is done hastily and without care.
The ps3 version is almost unplayable if you play as vanguard. The collision detection issues are wayyyy to many. You must have nerves of steel to finish the ps3 version as vanguard. Yes, the pc version had some occasions where Shepard was floating in the air, but these occasions weren't common and happened only to a specific place. On the ps3 version playing as vanguard is a pain in the a@@ due to the fact that Shepard is floating in the air all of the time. I wonder if there is anyone among as that had the courage to finish the ps3 version as vanguard.

Really? Did you play the patched pc version (1,02 version)? How can you compare the 1,02 pc version with
any of the ps3 versions? There is no comparison at all! I am playing the pc
1,02 version on my mediocre pc (AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core 4600+ 2,41 Ghz, 2 GB
Ram, directx 9, Nvidia GeForce 8800 Gts) and it is awesome, superb. My pc has
“by and large” the same power as the ps3 and I’m playing (on my couch with a
gamepad thanks to the xpadder program for the pad key bindings) with the
following configurations: widescreen resolution 1360x768 (pc connected to my
37inches TV via RGB cable), anisotropic filtering 4x, high quality bloom,
filmgrain on, motion blur on, dynamic shadows, lightenvironment shadows, all
cinematic lights and spherical harmonic lightning! There are no audio lags, no
visual bugs, no choice inconsistencies, no framerate issues, no instability
issues, minimum collision detection issues and minimum loading times. There are
some bugs here and there but these bugs are neither frequent nor too important
(for affecting the mass effect experience). The ps3 issues on the other hand
can both constitute a game breaking factor and destroy the experience. All
versions have issues (it’s an extremely complicated RPG) but these issues
aren’t on the same extent at all. Ps3 version needed to be more polished in
many sectors.

I was only referring to the problems mentioned specifically in the post I quoted. I haven't experienced audio lags or whatever else you mentioned on the PC either. And I haven't played the PS3 version so I can't comment on the severity of the issues on it. I just pointed out it isn't the only platform suffering from ie. the collision detection hiccups.
If they're really way worse than on PC, I don't envy you and hopefully Bioware can do something about it.
