[Release] 3 Unique Dog Textures

Hello Everyone! I have created 3 different dog textures based on Biowares concept art. This mod extends the apr_base.gda  and is not compatible with other mods that overwrite the apr_base.gda

Extract into your BioWare\\Dragon Age 2\\packages\\core\\override folder
You can only have 1 of my dog mods in your override folder at a time.

Im keen to take on any other dog texturing requests people might have!

A HUGE thankyou to DarthParametric for allowing me to use his mod to make these textures only effect your companion dog and not every dog in the game!

You can make this (more) compatible with other mods that use that .gda by excising every line that you don't alter, so all that's in the matrix are your edits, and then naming it something like apr_base_newmabari.gda.

I think currently the gda only has the 1 line for the dog (I didnt make it so im not sure) all i need to do is rename it ? nothing else?

If the .gda only has one line for the dog, then the .gda that you include with your mod should only have that one line, period. Then, just amend the name with an underscore and a suffix (_newmabari in my example).

The game then uses your .gda to sort of patch the default .gda. Instead of overwriting the entire file, it only overwrites the lines you've included in your mod's matrix.

Nefily when you checked the .gda please let us know. Having a proper mabari again is so satisfying, I am keen to get the update from you :)

This is... maybe a bit beside the point, but has anyone else noticed that the DA2 dog's head is kinda long? The dog seems less muscular/bulky than DA1's, and its head is longer, specifically in the muzzle. This has been distracting the hell out of me. Am I just imagining it?

No, you are not just imagining it. You are right about that DA2 mabari is slimmer and has longer muzzle. That said, I prefer DA2 mabaris over DAO since I'm more into hounds and wolf type.

Ive checked the gda file that comes with my mod made by DarthParametric and it is named differently already apr_dogrw. It only contains one line with an ID of 1080.

So this isnt compatiable with mods that overide the gda because those mods will override what ive added.

Is that correct?

Great mod! Gives every player the sense that "My Dog is better than any other dog!" LOL
