My Cousland girl hated him at first, but after a while she was really close to Nate because of that; and they both thought for a while they were sole survivors of their noble lineage. Some kind of unspoken understanding ( I picture them sitting next to each other - outdoors of course - and brooding ).

I mentioned Tabris because I've never played a Cousland, but you're totally right with the background. Maybe one day I'll betray myself and play a human warrior just for that.

To answer your question: Nate's been a naughty boy and put stupid ideas in Anders' head. He could do with a good span..., ok, you get the idea.

Then I make sure to plop her in my party enough to hear these backhanded compliments and comments from Nate. It makes me laugh with evil glee.

The last time I did this, I actually felt a little sorry for Velanna. She didn't seem to have enough life experience to match the sophistication of Nate's conversation, and she responded immaturely. It's actually pretty embarassing to watch. Poor thing.

Then I went back to laughing at her gleefully.

Cheeky little rogue brat... sounds quite like my Tabris, just that she finally growes up to become a cheeky rogue manipulation master. No other way to survive amongst humans.

I get the idea.  And I like it, as soon as it includes bringing Ser Pounce back.
Just wanted to get sure that no more drama would be coming up, as I had enough drama in DA2 (enough drama for me? I can't believe myself saying that...)
Nathanders in DA:A is creepy and hilarious at the same time...

- Anders: I'm scared. Hold me.
- Tabris: Are you talking to me?
- Nathaniel (facepalm). No, he's not.

I always recruit her.  Redemption by service is a trope I'm rather fond of.  Waging epic battle against the darkspawn is a good way for her to make amends to those she wronged AND to defend her own people at the same time.

And I get to listen to Howe professionally troll her to within an inch of her existence

It makes sense too.  Nathaniel Howe is the son of a nobleman, so besides his varied fighting talents, I'm also sure he's well educated in the finer points of speech and debate as well as the social graces.  She wasn't, so a battle of wits is truly not a fair contest.

               “Oh, I had a wonderful teacher,” She explained. “An archer of great repute, who carries many arrows in his quiver and uses a mighty bow to shoot. “ She teased back. “I think he deserves a ballad at least or a bard’s tale.”
               Nathaniel started to laugh and Angharad covered his mouth, trying not to laugh herself. “Nathaniel, shhh, you will bring the entire castle to this room!”
               “You didn’t tell me how large his quiver was.” He managed to say at last. Angharad used her hands to show him just how large the quiver was. They barely contained their giggles.

See!  The man can crack a joke once in awhile!

Thanks. I haven't written in awhile and writing this story about him has been a lot of fun so far.
