I hoped for something more than a brief appearance, but it was still great to meet Nate in DA2. He is one of my favorite characters in DA universe. And as he is still a gray warden and the gray wardens are definitely up to something, I hope he will play a bigger role in the upcoming DLC or expansion or DA3!

I remember before DA2 came out, people were wondering if it would Anders or Nathaniel that would be returning. I was excited that it was Anders but there was a slight disappointment that it wasn't Nathaniel

I couldn't imagine Nate not being in DA2 given it was taking place in the Free Marches. I had hoped he'd be a companion and ngl, I was very disappointed when I found out he wasn't. The cameo did take away a little of the sting though

It did make slightly more sense for Nathaniel to be in the Free Marshes and it did get my hopes up. heres hoping for a full companion appearance in an expansion/sequel!
and @ AnniLau
great shot lol

If there two of them, I think my Hawke's head (and mine) would explode!

Mel needs to post her picture of Jetta in between Nate and Fenris... yep.

The other one's not Nate. It's Nate's evil twin, Olaf. He's with the darkspawn.

This bears repeating.
My Hawkes wanted a "pat Nate on the bum for good luck" option. Obviously a huge oversight on Bioware's part.

I know! I played a little Awakenings the other day (purely for research purposes) and he gave me that line about "All this walking reminds me of that one year in Kirkwall."
There was handwaving and swearing on my part. "You bloody tease Nate!"
@Mel Your Hawke seems very happy with her situation in life

Maybe he wasn't a companion in DA2 because he is TOO normal? Hmm...

One of the things I love about this character is that he is such a gentleman and so NORMAL, once you get to know him. Aside from his whole revenge plot, he is a super-nice guy. Once he realizes that his dad is a jerk, he apologizes and becomes a good friend to the Warden. Plus, his concern for Delilah melts my heart every time. What a nice big brother.

Definitely, his only issue was his father. Even Oghren says he has to wind him up because "everyone needs daddy issues."
I loved that he was still the same, that little bow when he says goodbye. WHY CAN'T WE NOM ON HIS HEAD? *cough* sorry. I'm better now.

It may be because I didn't do my usual "chat for as long as possible with Nate" and only asked him about where he got the map.
When we were standing in the door I was able to ask him directly what the Wardens were up to. Has anyone else seen that? I thought his reply was nice.
Curse it where's my /hug Nate option?

I've been able to ask him that before and got him telling me he couldn't really say. Did you get a different dialogue?

To be fair, though, that is a pretty big stinking issue. Way I see it, even if he does believe his father was wrong in everything he did, Nate STILL has issues associated with how he was treated a child and possibly still loving a man that was a monster. He could hate what his father did but still pine for the affections of a man that was never free in giving it.
(No, not that I haven't thought about this a lot.... not at all)

No, just that. I've just never seen that extra option before.
Edit - I always want to hug him when he mentions his family. Out of the lot of them only he and Delilah seem to have turned out normal.

Very true. He was sent away at 22 so he grew up with the lovely Rendon

And Yay! A DA2 thread. I've been fiddling with sigs and will post some tonight. If anyone wants them feel free to use! I'll be flattered and amazed if you do ;-)
Banners if anyone wants :
I'm still learning so be kind
Edit - added a smaller one for those so inclined.
Edit - added another long one.
2 dumb questions:
1) How do you get a banner to appear at the bottom of all your posts? You don't have to past it in manually every time, do you?
2) Okay, I'm asking you "Howe"? Where is Nate in DA2? Do you have to have a sibling join the Wardens or something?
Thanks!

1) Copy the location of the banner you want. Then go to your side nav and mouse over 'Profile' and then scrolldown to 'Forum Settings' There you'll see a box for your sig. Go ahead and put the img src you want there surrounded by an img tag [ img] [ / img] (remove those extra spaces I put in there)
2) You get him if you use the 'No compromise' default DAO game save offered with DA2 or if import a DAO save that has Nathaniel alive and your friend at the time of the save. Note: there have been some problems if you did not elect to side with the Architect. So, I've found it is best to save right before the Nest (aka, the mother and the architect) and import from that save.
