That's a good point! I admit I had some trouble justifying the risk of letting Zevran on the team with sensible reasons other than "I want to give him a chance/I like his attitude/his ass looks nice". Not that those are not sensible reasons, mind you.

My inner reaction exactly matched Alistair's...."What? We're taking the assassin along with us now? Are you sure that's wise?"  But I ignored that. My first playthrough, I was rather sorry later that I let the assassin come along.

Didn't have to kill Nate; though I did earn some serious hate points for killing the Architect.

I'm sure the rest of you already knew this, but I did not. I didn't know until yesterday that David Gaider wrote Nathaniel as well as Alistair and Fenris. I should hae known--he writes male charactes that I really like. (I knew about Alistair and Fenris--didn't know about Nathaniel.)

@carmen_willow I didn't know that either - I knew DG liked Nate I didn't realise he wrote him as well. Well, Nate's epicness is now explained. DG gives good character imho.

Wonder if he wrote the quest bits for DA2 as well?

I'm going to guess that he probably did.  Makes me sad I got distracted by talking to him about silly stuff like dragspawn when I spoke to him at PAX instead of asking deep, probing Nathaniel questions.

Yes, he was in the Fenris thread responding to a rather interesting fan who had written that David didn't know his own character.  I'd written something about him writing two of the best male characters in the game (Alistair and Fenris).  I queried whether he'd written Nathaniel. DG thanked me for the compliment and confirmed that he had, indeed, written Nate. I already suspected it. DG writes guys I can relate to.

Oh yeah @Avilia, with the Warden armor mod for Nate, did you install that after you'd already completed a game? I just installed it recently and noticed it won't work on a past save. I just to make sure in a future game when I come up to ole Nate skulking the Deep Roads, it's going to work. I neeeeeds my screenshots, dammit.

And David Gaider wrote Alistair, Zevran, Fenris and Nate amongst others: a) this man is a genius, it's even a little creepy (how much does he know about women and how?), c) why isn't Nate a LI?
