I can't believe people want the Warden to return with VO
The main reason why I found playing as the Warden more enjoyable than Hawke was the fact that he didn't have a voice.
Giving him one would just completely destroy my character.

Yeah a lot of people feel that way.

But while I care about my Warden, I've never cared about his voice.

Some say you need to be able to choose a voice to role play.  I think what they mean is "When role playing, I like to choose a voice, and it's very important to the way I think about my character."  And that's fine.

In my case, I don't care.  I am more immersed in the life I live than in any RPG character I've ever played.  And I didn't choose my voice.  Or my race.  Or my origin.  And as anyone can tell you, I also have no class.  But getting back to voice, if my voice were to change--as it has over the years--it would not make me any less myself.  Even if it changed radically overnight, I wouldn't be any less myself.  (And in a game, I can just imagine it having retroactively having always been as it is presented in the newest game.)  None of this is to say that choosing voice, race, origin aren't cool things.  They are very cool things.  But something like choosing voice or not doesn't get in the way of my being able to imagine my Warden's story as continuing.  People will vary of course, and I'm not trying to change anyone's mind.  Just pointing why I don't personally care about voice.

I want an entirely new character. The Wardens story is finished and I am content with that. I didn't like playing as Hawke, and would like to have another "blank character" that doesn't have a voice or pre-rendered personalities.

All three fused into one super being; we'll call him, "Warhawken".

I would prefer a new character.

My Warden is either dead, or should be on his calling as his story is done.

Hawke - I really never want to play again. If he becomes the "shepard" of dragon age I guess I am done with Dragon Age franchise unless it is on sale and I am really bored.

I want my Warden to return... Just so he can meet his cousin, Hawke...

But I wouldn't mind a new main. However, I do NOT want Hawke back as the main... A companion would be cool... but NOT as the main.

This has my vote! :P

Seriously though, I'd like a new character.  I'm not sure if it's because of the voice, or the writing of the game itself, but I felt very... detatched from Hawke.

I think that we're virtually destined to have yet another main lead. I'm OK with a new lead because of the changes to continuity [even in the epilogue slides]. Basically I don't have a warden that's in a position to really come back. I think Hawk's story can be told well enough in mission DLCs or similar.

New protagonist, and if the game is in Orlais, I hope we get to give those poncy snail-eaters the business.

That was my problem.  All my wardens either got the "L" retcon [change from epilogue, whatever] or went off with Morrigan so I'm fine with a new lead.   Hawk's personal story seems very close-to-done for me.

I hope we take charge of a poncy snail eater. A voiced PC with a French accent, it would be beautiful.

New protagonist. Wardens should not side with any side in politics nor wars, the mages vs templars war is no different. Hawke is an interesting character and it feels as if his/her story is just getting started as DA2 ends, but I doubt Bioware will continue along that road due to all the criticism.

the Warden ended two civil wars, walked the path of Andraste, completed an annulment, and either wiped out a curse of warewolves that existed for hundreds of years or a clan of  dalish, maybe kill Flemeth. Then he stopped the blighted faster than any grey warden in history and mine lived and had a god baby.  what did hawke do? get rich, kill some quanari and side with the mages or templars in a war that would have happened anyway. If they do a new protagonist  fine, but the Warden is the most important person in thedas not lame ass hawke.<_<

Urgh.  Only if we can play a Dalish, because then it doesn't count.

I would love to be able to play my Warden again, though not for the only sake of playing her again...wow that is clever wording, lol. I mean with that if there is a story my Warden has impact/Influence and significance in in DA3, why not.

But if the Warden is only there and to return to appease the fans, then leave her/him be. I have DA:O for that. Then I prefer to continue my Wardens story for myself in fanfiction and happily play a new character. Just don't need Hawke back, that's for sure.

I like the idea of the Warden coming back but he would be over-powered by far... I'll wait to see what DLC they WILL make for DA2 (and not the stuff that comes with the game). Hopefully they will expand on Hawks story, if not carry it on. I like Hawks story, no he didn't really do much as in change anything but it did give u a birds eye view of what will heavily impact on the next game. Playing a hole new person could, in theory, bring the chars from the games and DLC together in a new story line but... like i said i'l wait for the DLC first

How could you play the Warden or Hawke, when both are missing? It would appear that there is a connection between them, or the seekers wouldn't be involved, yes? So, assuming that they're incapacitated in some way, it would be a little difficult to play one of them, unless it's a "Fort Drakon prison break"-esque scenario. Meh.

My guess and hope is that it will be a new protagonist, with a nod to the warden and Hawke. Maybe we'll even get some resolution to the Flemeth/Morrigan issue (of course, I didn't play Witch Hunt DLC, so I have no idea if that's already resolved, but I'm guessing no?). If Alistair is brought back for yet another cameo, I hope he lays off the cheese. Poor, poor Alistair is hideous now. But I digress...

Hawke.

His story is definitely not over. We see that the Seekers are looking for him. They rightly believe that he's one of the few people who could TALK to the rebelling mages (or templars) and possibly stop this war from exploding any further than it already has.

Also, I actually liked the framed narrative. It worked in this game, and I found it amusing. Do I believe they should bring it back? No, not this time. The framed narrative was a cool way to introduce Hawke to everyone, but now Varric has told his story and it ended at Kirkwall. Now we get to see where our Champion has disappeared to.

I know MINE, being the illegal mage that he was, sailed off with Isabella to go have sexy times and further adventures.I liked my Hawke, and the occasional use of the murder knife.

At this point, what I care more about it that there be no dialogue wheel and that the PC go back to being unvoiced. I really felt distanced fron Hawke.

Not gonna happen.

*Shakes Head* This series isn't really going in the direction I'd hoped. The mages finally rising up against the templars; yes, I like that. But in terms of the main protaganist - a major part of any rpg - I'm not liking this at all.

Oh yeah and to answer the original question:
1. The Warden: Head and Shoulders above the rest.
2. New Protaganist: Not to say I didn't like Hawke - I thought he had some clever dialogue and unique personality - I just felt too disconnected from him sadly.
3. Hawke

That's not to say I don't want DLCs and expansions for DA:2; just enough that we get some form of closure on Hawke as a character, then for Bioware to work on DA:3. You should have no problem hiring people with French accents being in Canada.

I love how it's a 'mental block' if you don't like paraphrases. Right. Sure. Okay.

Well, that pretty much guarantees that they'll never make a game that I find a roleplaying equal to Origins. If they don't change the conversation camera away from the third person view, it ensures it.
