At this point, what I care more about it that there be no dialogue wheel and that the PC go back to being unvoiced. I really felt distanced fron Hawke.
Not gonna happen.
*Shakes Head* This series isn't really going in the direction I'd hoped. The mages finally rising up against the templars; yes, I like that. But in terms of the main protaganist - a major part of any rpg - I'm not liking this at all.
Oh yeah and to answer the original question:
1. The Warden: Head and Shoulders above the rest.
2. New Protaganist: Not to say I didn't like Hawke - I thought he had some clever dialogue and unique personality - I just felt too disconnected from him sadly.
3. Hawke
That's not to say I don't want DLCs and expansions for DA:2; just enough that we get some form of closure on Hawke as a character, then for Bioware to work on DA:3. You should have no problem hiring people with French accents being in Canada.
Gooood, why cant they let the dialogue wheel go? Why cant they see it is utter crap and a step backwards from a roleplaying perspective? Every day I read a quote or new info on Dragon Age, the more it feels like they're running this series into the ground. Bioware WAKE UP.

knowing he is there for your new character would be good as long as it's not like the alpha protocol emails

But yeah, prob new protagonist, though hearing about/interacting with Hawke/Warden would be awesome. I didn't read through all 5 pages of the thread, but someone surely mentioned that by the end of DAO and DA2 we were monstrously powerful. Not sure it would work to start out as one of these super powerful chars. Leveling up is part of the fun!
Not trying to present this as the definitive word on this issue...just tossing it out there.

The Warden is a relatively easy shoe horn in, we have created appearances and default ones, if they limit the cameo of the Warden to something significant and base their personalities in a general sense off of the decisions made it shouldn't be too hard to pop them in but use them sparingly for a good effect. The Warden is a war leader and military genius from most versions of how the story is told, so no matter the origin chosen there are a lot of common trends they can weave to create the core Warden NPC persona.
This could be easily enhanced by a little survey at the beginning of the game or a save game adjustment kind of like ME 2 did.
Hawke is actually where the cleverness of DA2 design from a sequel presentation works. In DA2 you choose Hawkes behaviour type very directly, so if they want to re-use Hawke they can port your appearance over more or less directly and then write scenarios for his/her behaviour just like they did with DA2. Boom you have a fully realized PC now totally usable as an NPC in future games complete with a personality the players themselves helped decide. Its a pretty clever narrative tool really.

You know, this reminds me of that time, waaaay back...Giltspur wrote...
Yeah a lot of people feel that way.
But while I care about my Warden, I've never cared about his voice.
Some say you need to be able to choose a voice to role play. I think what they mean is "When role playing, I like to choose a voice, and it's very important to the way I think about my character." And that's fine.
In my case, I don't care. I am more immersed in the life I live than in any RPG character I've ever played. And I didn't choose my voice. Or my race. Or my origin. And as anyone can tell you, I also have no class. But getting back to voice, if my voice were to change--as it has over the years--it would not make me any less myself. Even if it changed radically overnight, I wouldn't be any less myself. (And in a game, I can just imagine it having retroactively having always been as it is presented in the newest game.) None of this is to say that choosing voice, race, origin aren't cool things. They are very cool things. But something like choosing voice or not doesn't get in the way of my being able to imagine my Warden's story as continuing. People will vary of course, and I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. Just pointing why I don't personally care about voice.
Erm.. I mean, I'd agree that choosing voice or even appearance doesn't really add immersion, but it does add to replay value, which is important to alot of people. It's also just a nice thing to have anyway.
I'd be completely up for seeing my warden and Hawke again, I don't even have any problem with them giving the warden a voice and approximating the old face in the new style (ideally the greater structure / colours could be imported, at least), I'd be far more annoyed if they just left the whole "heroes going missing" thing hanging. And, since they essentially retconned Leliana back to life (for you monsters who killed her!) to play a greater role in events, and her and my Warden were together, I'd be disappointed (not to mention confused) to not see her find the warden.
That said, new PC for the next game for me. Gives alot more freedom from one game to the next to have a new character. I've only seen one of the ME2 romances because I didn't want to cheat on Liara from my imports... Which is nice for a direct-sequel, but DAs are all different stories in one setting.

New protagonist. I would like to play as Hawke again, but in DLC or an expansion before DA3.
This.
It has been said more than once that Dragon Age is about a world and not a particular character. There is so much of this world we have not yet seen, and I hope we have the chance to explore it! My Wardens and my Hawkes have enough on their plates that they can't abandon now, I need someone new that can travel and have new adventures.

Two integrating story modes, kinda like RE2 but in RPG form. Import both characters, seeing as how we have TWO protagonists, and TWO remaining Archdemons.....make Hawke a Warden, and have each of them lead an army against the remaining AD's, however each respective char's playthrough's choices can affect the reverse game/2nd playthrough of the other. So Hawke could potentially accidentally/intentionally impede something on the Warden's mission, and vice versa.....hope that wasn't too convoluted =)
Heh, I actually can see Hawke becoming a Warden in one of the DLCs/the EP.

I was happy with how the Warden's story ended, but then again I'm of the opinion that Witch Hunt was little more than a bad dream the Warden had after eating one too many spotted mushrooms.

I have closed most of my wardens stories in my head and I don't feel like playing Hawke again (altought I wouldn't mind a dlc with Hawke, just not a new game.)

Further, a new character would allow for new character development. I just hope DA3 can have as much character development as DA:O. I'm not really expecting the same story length, because DA:O was something special in that regard, but I love lots of characterization and I want more than we got in DA2. Maybe bring back the origins, as has been mentioned already?
