The Keeper spells - One With Nature/Thornblades/Nature's Vengeance (I don't find Merrill's tree quite as much fun)

Tempest/Blizzard/Inferno/Earthquake (the first three because they looked incredible, the last because watching a bunch of allies and enemies fall over at the same time amuses me)

I am missing the whole Arcane Warrior prestige class. I loved that class.
Also the spell combos. Power ups FTW!
Blood Wound.
Animate Dead (say hello to my little friend, who used to be YOUR little friend, mwahahaha)

I miss Haste as a sustainable.
The missing electricity spells, whose names I can't remember. The single target and Cone of Cold equivalent.
Shapeshifting. ): I thought for sure that Flemeth could teach/bestow a mage!Hawke with a shapeshifting tree. What a jerk.

Force Field. I don't understand why FORCE mages do not have it.

The old fireball. I'll admit it was a tad(just a tad.....) too much but it was so much fun to use!.

Combat magic. Cause casting in plate was fun! And yes, I know you can still do it now, but I'm not sure I would want to take away points from magic just for this.

Perpetual haste...given enough regen.

Paralysis Explosion. Unresistable, AOE paralysis was awesome. Even if it was super OP and I realize why it was taken out...I still miss it :(

And spell might + mana clash I suppose....cause who doesn't like 1-shotting the secret big bad?

I miss the Arcane warrior class. I always used that not only for the spells but for the ability to use the Arcane Warrior Sword you get in the Dragon's lair.

Also, I miss mostly the whole elemental spells. Thats all my mage used, with virulent walking bomb. My combination of cone of cold, shock, stone fist and the short range fire spell always worked. I really liked the animations for tempest, blizzard, and inferno. To me DA2 really toned them down way too much.

The spell I miss most from Awakening was the Battle Mage's frost mindblast. That always got me out of tight situations.

Walking bomb. Used to keep taking HP until the target died, now it times out after a little while.

pretty much that whole progression, virulent walking bomb, animate dead... after a while you yourself barely had to fight at all!

oh, and the Arcane Warrior spec. =]

Virulent Walking Bomb was the best spell ever in a RPG.

The old fireball: RIP

Definitely Mana Clash.
The Circle Tower was such a breeze with that spell. I could run ahead of the rest of my party and kill all the abominations before they caught up.
I tried replicating the results with the upgraded Dispel Magic in DA2, but it just wasn't the same.

The other spirit spells like Animate Dead and Spell Might were also missed.

The entire spirit school of magic in DA2 seems weak by comparison.

I don't so much miss spells, maybe I miss force field type of defensive spells. More I miss spell balance. Enemy mages have protective spell bubble, but players doesn't. Why not?

At the moment offensive spells are superior, because they do damage and have inbuild control effect. While real control spells effect is short time. Also because long coold downs in spells, mage is forced to use more staff as base attack. This little bit spoils the mage class as spell caster. I feel like archer with spell visual effects. Also healing plays less role than before. Basicly balance isn't good.

When I play mage, spells are my weapons and defence. Armor and staff has zero meanign to me.

Also I don't like all visual effects spells has. So much bombard from sky to down effects. Not like field of fire comming from ground. Also substain spells visual effects are not something what I want at all. I don't like when my mage looks like christmas tree all the lights blining everywhere. Icon is enough for spells what you know you have self activated. Enemy affects or temporary spells effects are fine as visual.

WoW, I never thinked it could be Barrier, because Barrier is 6 second spell with 45 second cool down and enemies cast this force bubble like all the time and it last a lot longer.
