Anybody ever read the online web comic series, Goblins?

Goblins - Life Through Their Eyes

I stumbled across it the other day and started to read from the beginning. At first, I thought it was just going to be another parody comic that lampoons the world of D&D...and it does do that (with much of the humor going over my head). However, halfway through Book One the story took a decidedly serious twist with a nasty battle between a party of level 1 adventures and a clan of hapless goblins that are sick of being picked upon for no good reason.  From there, the story has proven to be an intriguing bit of black comedy with clever twists and - get this - characters that are actually pretty interesting and well fleshed out! The artistry is pretty good too (IIRC, Goblins is a three person effort).

Don't know if I will ever manage to wade through all the back issues, but so far I am impressed!

'tis a very good comic, and you should wade thru the archives. It gets darker and more depressing, especially what happens to Fumbles, and the author doesn't update nearly enough for me, (meaning I want new pages daily, nay HOURLY and they all must be top quality), but I am hooked and can't wait for each new page. In fact it has caused me to feel bad for the goblins I kill whenever I play NWN or Oblivion; I wonder if they have names, and families that will miss them...

edit: Do/have you read Elfquest? If you like Goblins then you may like it as well

Goblins is one of only 6 webcomics that I still read regularly. Very good choice for anybody at all interested in RPG's or fantasy in general. =]

My favorite strip was when he did that one-time strip of a bunch of panels for those people who were impatient and didn't have time to wait for fancy art and he'd release the real strip later for those who appareciated art.

He updates slowly, I'll admit, but to be fair, it gives me a chance to catch up on so many other things.

It seems to me that the entire webcomic industry at a whole has slowed down lately, in the last year or two.

Did art die?

I have it as a feed. Honestly, while entertaining, the last battle went on painfully long (felt like at least three months). I'm glad it's finally over - hopefully there will be some real plot development again.

The Order of The Stick is 10,000 times better though. Heh.

@ Mordaedil: I wasn't really complaining about his update speed, I was kinda implying that I have an addictive personality, so I always want more; even if he updated hourly, I'd prolly want half-hourly updates:P. I'm (somewhat) happy waiting though, the comic is very good and worth it.
And I wouldn't say the webcomic industry is dying, but that the wheat is getting seperated from the chaff; the strong survive, while the weak perish; the good go on, the sucky fade away; et cetra, et cetera, et cetera...

Tarol and Danielle are awesome people, very friendly, geeky, and just plain amazing. They've been our guests at Edmonton's Pure Speculation Festival before, and they're just a hoot.

Oh yeah, and they have some kinda webcomic that's entertaining as well! :) Don't be afraid to email them and tell them how much you enjoy Goblins.

Never heard of Elfquest, but I'll check it out.  Thanks for the link.

I've also been reading Dndorks.  Not that far into...seems okay, but not as addictive as Goblins.

If they are BioWare fans, I think there's a good footing to get on along with them.
