You know what would be awesome? A game that took place on ONE WORLD in the Mass Effect Universe. Preferably some remote Jungle world. You play the majority of the game on-world...but then you have the opportunity to travel to ALL of the other places in the galaxy towards the end. You know, start out on a local level for like 65% of the game...then let loose for a few systems...but limiting it to only a few parts of the galaxy...then the sequels can open the galaxy up after the fact.

Though, I would LOVE another RPG that followed a character whose events took place during Shepard's.

If that is how MMO's are....then maybe I will rethink my previous statement about giving ME:MMO a shot...

I don't see any company, Bioware included that could juggle two MMO's at once.

I really hope this doesn't happen. Not because it's an MMO but because Bioware already is working on The Old Republic and well come on it's Star Wars! I doubt a Mass Effect MMO would come out soon anyways after spending such a huge amount of time and money on The Old Republic.

Still I can see the merit of a Mass Effect MMO. It's Biowares own game. No need to ask permission from anyone to add anything and the freedom to do what ever you want with the series. But I honestly don't want to pay for two MMO's ><!

Others have mentioned it, and I agree; I can't see them actually going through with an MMO for a really reallllly long time - why would they compete with themselves?

Only if it tried to evolve MMO's while keeping the same combat as ME1/2...instead of following WoW's stale model.

If it ends up like Freelancer was supposed to be, I'll probably never leave my house again.

Depends greatly on the game and guild.

I work with a couple of wow addicts (one is my boss, one is my supervisor, one is our secretary) and that fits the bill for then perfectly.

I could never do MMO because of this I don't think....I'm more of a Leeroy Jenkins style character. I tried TF on Steam a few times.....most people used to tell me to F off because I was more in it for the lol's than what some self appointed team leader wanted me to do...if a game becomes about something else than me having a blast...then it's a no go zone...yeah there were the free for all servers..but even they became semi - serious after a while.

Which is why I might try SW:TOR - the allowance of going through it solo appeals to me...but then why would I pay a subscription fee...it's all too messy at the moment...I don't know...my head hurts.

I recommend you play on a FFA PVP server then if the rules permit. You can have much more fun as a lone wolf who does things for the lulz.

I wouldn't recommend joining a guild in that case until you are well established on the server and know lots of people.  You'll have a better feel for which people you'd enjoying hanging out with most, and what guilds may or may not be for you.

as long as we can shot, take cover etc..im fine with it.
and not just press a button and they do all the attack(like TOR or DA:O). keep that for TOR.

Also MMO monthly pay is a HUGE turn off

Yeah I think it's that second part that keeps me away from MMOs though.  I'm just not that prepared to throw that much social commitment to a game.

With that said though I wouldn't be the target audience, nor would I ever be expected to become the target audience.  I'll give it a whirl in TOR..might slap down a subscription for a few months and make an effort. If anyone can convert a die hard single player gamer...I'd lean towards it being a BioWare game..particularly in a Star Wars or Mass Effect setting.

Please stay away from MMO, Bioware. They're absolute garbage and it's bad enough that the KOTOR series is bastardized this way.

Please no! Don't go this direction, it's not roleplaying, it's a social networking game dressed up as an RPG! Bye bye to single player if Bioware devotes all its resources to two MMO.

I've never paid for an MMO before and well, I don't intend to. I don't like the idea of it all.

This is bascially my opinion too.

You don't really have to if you don't want to.  Plus it's not as if you can't simply end your subscription if the solo-pickup group experience isn't fun for ya.

I was in two different guilds in Conan.  One was a typical MMO guild in terms of commitment and hours.  The other was a light RP assassin's guild who never really had scheduled events, and only had a website to coordinate hit contracts (like, "Bob wants us to kill Joe and he's offering 1G - post here if you've completed the contract so we don't double up).  The latter would really only work on a PVP server, but it's just an example of stuff out there if you look.

With TOR despite all that I really plan on levelling up every  class - provided each one gets a story that's different enough from the other - without really focusing on group activity much until I'm finished doing that.  So... it'll be a while.

The Escapist : News : BioWare: Mass Effect MMO "Makes Sense"

While anyone who's been keeping up with the ME3 Info from GameInformer might have noticed, there's a little caption where Huson muses about Multiplayer options for Mass Effect.

What are your ideas/fears/hopes/dreams/ideals for "Mass Effect:MMO" ?

Ideas: Import of Shepard in MMO but we don't pla him/her.
Fears: Monthly pay. Biggest turn off for me in MMO's.
Hopes: We can play with Geth.
Dreams: Geth LI.
Ideals: Technology will improve by the time ME MMO is even annonced so... yeah!

Nice. I'll keep my eye out for those. At the very least...that solo experience should net me my moneys worth and provide a nice diversion for the next big single player game.

Maybe I'll start my own guild for like minded people! :wizard: ...we really need a lightbulb smiley...

Satire?

A series that is greatly about galactic civilization focusing the majority of a game on one planet doesn't make much sense to me.

An MMO? Besides Star Wars : The Old Republic? I wouldn't like that very much. Mass Effect is the story of Shepard and that's it. An rpg with a shooter engine and a pause function to give additional tactical abilities. None of this would really work in MMO. Unless we're talking about an online shooter of course, but those aren't really massive. You could use a more Dragon Age like engine of course, but that wouldn't really be Mass Effect anymore.

Dragon Age would work better IMHO... Especially considering it would be an 18+ MMO, the competition would be limited - Age of Conan, but that's pretty much it.

I don't know about an MMO... I would've liked it if places like the Citadel, Omega and Illium had been designed sandbox style like Rockstar did with Liberty and Vice city. Anything that expands this universe is cool with me as long as it's not a RTS.

An ME MMO is what I always wished instead of Star Wars MMO, but Bioware has to wrap up the ME trilogy first and then after SWTOR is already settled down whether as success or failure, THEN they will probably consider an ME MMO. Sad to have to wait so many years  :(sadface:(

Oh, please no ME MMO. I will be giving SW:TOR a shot, but an ME MMO? Nah, thank you.
Multiplayer features could be pretty good though, like coop-mode or some PvP. So, basically some system with a big lobby, and the ability to start game instances for a limited amount of players, either open or passworded.

An ME MMO would have to be really sandbox-ish to become appealing. Very much closer to SWG than to WoW (or TOR, for that matter). And we all know how there isn't really a big market for sandbox style MMO's, so that probably won't ever happen.

And first, I think I should just check out the ME community in Second Life, see how that fares. Last I heard they actually had some very nicely designed locations set up for Mass Effect Roleplay. If they can pull it off and manage to properly stay within the ME universe and IP, then maybe there's hope for a good ME MMO. If those guys already don't make it (and they do so with little to none support from Bioware), then an ME MMO won't ever be able to do justice to the previous games either.
