Healing Aura bug or normal function?

I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining here, but my 111 hp Spirit Healer mage can, for some reason, tank better than any warrior when I have Healing Aura on. I've searched through a very detailed forum on the mechanics of DA:2 regen (thanks to whoever wrote that 2 weeks ago), and the effect that Healing Aura has on my teammates seems to be what it should be. Its effect on me, however, seems to be too high. Every 2 or 3 seconds, my health bar is darn near completely filled.

I was fighting a big group of baddies that quite efficiently killed my party, leaving my mage Hawke to fend them all off herself, with only 100-ish health. They kept beating on me, taking me down to 50-25% health in one or two hits, then my health would just refill as if I'd consumed a potion (health potion count does NOT decrease). And it kept doing it every 2 seconds or so.  This happens everywhere I go now; it makes dying extraordinarily difficult (yay ), but seems like something's gone wrong with the game scripting (boo :().

So my question(s) is/are:
Does this happen to anyone else?
Does this sound like how Healing Aura is supposed to work?

EDIT: By the way, I've never done anything with the developer console.

That doesn't sound like it's like it should be but I haven't seen it for myself

I think I have the same problem. Sometimes during a battle, my tank's health bar will automatically fill up after being hit while my secondary tank's health will never fill up unless I heal them or use a potion.

I would assume if I had healing aura or some similar spell on, that it would benefit everyone, not just a select few at random times.

[SPOILERS?]

It's like that one mission with Varric when you go to look for his brother and you fight all those enemies on your own. His health bar got really low, then when he was about to die, his health was 100% again. This same thing happens to me or my party members seemingly at random times...Even when I don't have any sustained spells on.

The time with Varric is supposed to be like that, I believe; it's a "make believe" segment that didn't really happen - Varric is exaggerating to make himself sound more badass as he tells the tale.

If it's happening to your tank, and you don't have healing aura on, maybe it's just some kind of random bug that happened to me at about the time I got HA.

EDIT: Oh, nevermind, you were using the Varric thing as an example of a similar situation.

I also have Death Syphon active, but don't have the health upgrade for it - perhaps it's a bug with that?

Ok, enough responding to myself, but I may have found the answer, Icycle:

rumination888 says:
I think Healing Aura will stack on itself when you enter a new area. The more areas you enter with it turned on, the bigger the stack. Its a bug in patch 1.00/1.01

Ah, that would explain the instant health regeneration akin to what happened to Varric in his "secret mission."

But I've noticed that this seems to be most prevalent immediately after I resurrect my party after everyone but myself has wiped. I can manage to kill whomever I'm fighting (usually a boss, otherwise it would just be sad if I wiped on a regular mob), and the next battle after a few seconds of calm will result in regular depleting health.

I admit that I play on Normal, but nowhere does it say that it regenerates health as it happens to me. However, if what you're saying is right SmilodonBravo, hopefully the issue was addressed in the most recent patch.

Thanks.
