I could see it the other way round. After all,Fenris can be friendromanced with a bloodmagic supporting bloodmage Hawke and has no problems whatsoever with that. I'm sure he could overcome his problems with Anders.
Anders on the other hand grows more and more fanatical as the game goes on and flips out if you even suggest templars might not all deserve to die. Also he's so wound up in freeing mages that even if Hawke is romancing him, there isn't a "real" romance going on. Plus he's happy if Fenris is send back with Danarius.

That's because the game does not recognize a blood mage Hawke. Nobody does. I kind of doubt Fenris would canonically romance a blood mage Hawke, personally. Fenris is more open-minded about people in general than Anders, he doesn't generally condemn people before he's met them, but he has strong convictions when it comes to demons and making deals with them. I think that's a huge dealbreaker when it comes to being friends with him, much less a romance.

As for Anders... I simply meant that his comments like the Danarius ones could be more easily interpreted as UST that he's trying to ignore than Fenris' could. Not necessarily that it's true, but it's simply a possible alternate interpretation. As long as Fenris isn't a templar or Chantry member he's not a direct oppressor of mages so I don't think Anders would completely villainize him in his mind, at least not in the first two acts.

I might not come out bad but Fenris ****es at you for it anyway. Generally he seems to switch between "I care for you,I respect you" and "I despise you"

See, I never got "I despise you" from anything he said. The closest he gets is "you will be the death of me", which isn't vitriol, it just further highlights his conflicted feelings. He never hates Hawke on the rivalry path, he's just torn between what he believes in and what he feels for Hawke.

The worst comment he ever makes is if you're a mage!Hawke and he says, "What does magic touch that it doesn't spoil?" ... And directly afterwards it's obvious he just blurted that out in anger, because he gives this awkward, uncomfortable look. And then he comes to your house to apologize for it later.

So yeah, not seeing "I despise you" in that romance, but I can definitely see it when he talks to Anders.

...Rivalry with Fenris is nowhere near the levels of vitriol that he and Anders have between them. You can still express care and concern and have it not come out badly...

Yeah...Fenris is pretty...ugh. On the rivalry path. He twists every gift rivalry Hawke gives him into an insult. It's not...well it's not pleasant.

He's snarling at Hawke half the time. And forget about being a mage Hawke. Just...no. He apologizes for it later but it strikes me more like the abusive husband apologizing for smacking his wife. He says sorry but he keeps on doing it!

Though you can call him out on his s*** which is always nice.

Anders at the very least still appreciates a rivalry Hawke's gifts (even if he's shocked to recieve them). I don't see that relationship as abusive at all. Not anymore than the friendship path can be abusive. You don't talk down to him (though you can yell about how Vengeance is a demon. Which...is telling him the truth to be perfectly honest.), I've yet to be able to belittle him (even as a complete douche Hawke). And he doesn't do it either. The closest I got to anything cruel was telling him all mages are dangerous and throwing what Quentis did in his face. The first is...true and the second was in a moment of severe grief.

As for topic starter: Anders isn't any more attracted to Fenris than the reverse. They both despise each other. It's not happening.

Edit: Unless it's a complete one night stand and only occurs because they need to save Hawke's life.

You know, sometimes people just don't like each other. In the end he was even more eager to kill Anders than I was. And Anders wants you to sell Fenris back into slavery.

No. Don't see it. Not all conflict is a cover for sexual attraction. Alistair and Morrigan, to use another game example, hated each other. I doubt that was a cover for anything more than more hate. Possibly disdain and disgust as well.

Seriously, just because it might be fapworthy doesn't make it canon.

This so much...

I love the idea of certain combinations of characters, but I would NEVER call them canon.  My fapon, but not canon.  Nope.

I just do not see an IC world where Fenris and Anders hook up.  The mere fact that Anders would happily turn Fenris over to Danarius is enough evidence to me no matter how much we might like to imagine all that hotness sharing a sandwich together.

I'm pretty sure that already happened. Also Anders is totally the bottom.

To quote Gone Batty on DeviantArt-

"Fenders, explained.

I don't know why I am doing this. LOL Probably because I am more stoked about this pairing for the angsty effed up emotional parts than just the smoldering hot smecks. (though the smecks IS rather nice.)

I know a lot of people are going to think this ship is worthless and not really able to compete with the cannons buuuut I dunno.. give it some thought! Fenris is probably so scarred up from being repeatedly raped and beaten by some crazy old mage- I would not at all be surprised if he subconsciously went looking for the very thing he has been trying to escape because its the only thing he knows. Sound too ****ed up for you? Well thats too damn bad, this **** happens FOR REALS YO. And lets not forget dear Anders here... I mean do I really have to explain why he'd want to have sex with a man? No probably not because he seems to do it a lot already. LOL But why he would like Fenris? Well I don't know, I think a lot of it might hinge off of his need to help people- he enjoys healing others. So he's probably a bit of a bleeding heart- a humanitarian by nature. What do humanitarians love more than ex slaves with amnesia and Stockholm syndrome? Eh.. probably SOMETHING but nothing is coming to mind. (I'm sure you guys will think of SOMETHING).

So we have an Ex Slave, and an Illegal Mage.
Say this ex slave is totally opposed to this illegal mage because he stands for everything the slave hates about his ex captors. A possessed mage levying for the freedom of his deadly kin.
It could be that same passionate hatred that causes him to pay extra attention to this person, making him go out of his way to interact with him-to contest him at every turn. He begins to become closer to this mage because of his great distaste for him. They start to learn things about each other by fighting, sizing each other up. Eventually they become comfortable with the tension between them- its an easy outlet for stress. They could never speak too harshly to one another because fighting is what they do to communicate. Their lives are tangled, stressful, and emotionally damaging-they need to vent often, and to have someone there who is capable of shrugging it off.
They need each other.
How much closer would they have to be before they became aware of that need? How long before they depend on each other? What sorts of things can they take out on each other? What sort of side would they unleash?
Then, slowly they begin to realize the sorts of things that are bringing them together are the things they told themselves they despised, the very demons they fight are the ones they feel most comfortable lying with. They can't share them with anyone else without being made to look foolish; hypocritical and so it is these things, these 'demons' that become their bond. And eventually they realize that they have been pacified by each other.

Oh, the sex is a bonus too. >:3

So perhaps their relationship wouldn't be conventional, but to me it seems totally realistic in a really sick twisted kind of way(just how I like it xD). There would have to be a boiling point though, something that sends passion over to the other side.. and I am working on that in my brain. xD Maaan I am so tempted to make a comic.. and I really shouldnt."

Oh, and we have a Fenders club, too Posted Image
